What Are You Harvesting?
Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. (Hosea 10:12 NIV)
This time of year always makes me think of harvest. Today I began to think "what am I harvesting?" This question is something I feel we should all ask ourselves from time to time. While our society is so built on material things many people get so focused on harvesting worldly possessions. It's easy to get caught up in this.
While we are out working so hard to get these things it's important to step back and think "what am I harvesting?" Are we harvesting for God? Are we working to see souls saved? Are we working to help our brothers and sisters?
The worldly possessions will not be forever. It can be taken away in the blink of an eye. A harvest for God will last eternally. In this season take a moment to think "what am I harvesting?"
The wonderful thing about a harvest for God is that it will continue to grow beyond you. Plant a seed, grow a harvest, and it will continue to grow. It will spread and your tiny seed you planted will continue to grow more than we can imagine. Even the smallest action when done for the Lord have the greatest outcome.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9 NIV)
