Worthy of God's Calling

Worthy of God’s Calling

I was blessed to be asked to be a guest writer for Awakening Your Day Devotions. My first thought honestly was fear, crippling fear. I thought I would like to do something like this to spread the gospel to others but I am not qualified for that. I am not a writer. I am not intelligent enough to do this. Will I be able to write something that will touch others?  What will I evenknow what to write about? Then it hit me, I will write about exactly what I am going through and that was fear. Fear of spreading the gospel that cripples so many others. I was not trusting God, notice all those sentences had “I” in them. It is not about me at all it is about God. Trusting God to give me what I need to spread the message to others.

So many times we miss opportunities that God is giving us by giving in to fear. We are afraid we aren’t good enough or knowledgeable enough to minister to others. We sit on the back pew and let others that we feel are better for the job do the jobs that God is calling us to do because we are scared to step out on faith. As the saying goes “God doesn’t call the qualified God qualifies the called.”

2 Thessalonians 1:11 says  “ Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and work of faith with power” When you are presented with something Pray. Pray God fulfills you with the power to do his work. Have faith in him and fully trust he will provide and he will.
A lot of times we think “What will others think aboutthis?” You may feel like you aren’t worthy and others will not be responsive. Colossians 3:12 tells us “Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord and not for men” Everything we do should be for the Lord. We aren’t working to please man we are working to please God. When we work and strive to do all things for God the rest will follow.

“For God is working in giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” Phillipians 2:13
Don’t miss an opportunity to serve God because the devil is holding you back with fear. You are worthy of Gods calling.
I thank you for taking the time to read my very first devotion. Before leaving you today I would like to pray with you.
“Dear heavenly father I give you all the praise and glory for this devotion today. If anyone reading this is battling fear and is being held back from working for you I pray you will conquer that fear in their life. I pray if there is something else someone is battling today God that you will overcome it Lord. Let us always keep you first in in everything we do. In your heavenly name I pray Amen”

  1. Beautiful devotion Sarah Akins ! I feel like Job sometimes. Something I feared the most has come upon me and that is the passing away of my precious father. God is helping me day by day and I am reminded in God's word that Job was rewarded for his faithfulness to God and so many things that he lost was returned to him double! When you fear that someone is going to leave you and pass on from this world to be at the feet of Jesus...I have learned to simply praise Jesus. Jesus has the final say and in my case of my Father, Jesus took him home. God was very merciful and he did not suffer. I personally laid my biggest fear in Jesus"s hands. He knows best and it is His responsibility to take care of our every need. Pamela Britt Malone
