Mind Renewal

Proverbs 23:7 says"For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he". What are you thinking about today? Did you start your day thinking about The Lord and thanking him for another day of life? Or perhaps you woke up upset because you went to bed upset.  As soon as you opened your eyes the offense from yesterday starts playing in you mind like a broken record. Over and over again the offense of yesterday plays.  You cannot seem to shake the hurt. Maybe all is well with you when you woke up, but your day starts out with thoughts of what you have to do that day instead of thinking about God.

Listen I have to confess at different times in my Christian walk with The Lord some days have been like all of the above. All of us need mind renewal training. Yes training on how to think God thoughts. In the book of Romans chapter 12 verse 2 the word of god says"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the RENEWIING of your MIND, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Now mind renewal is a transforming process. It takes time. There is no fast way to do it.  It takes an effort on the part of the believer to be willing to admit they do not know everything about Gods word. After we admit this to ourselves we free the Holy Spirit to start teaching us spiritual truths that we may not have learned before. All of us have had the experience of reading a scripture over over and over and then one day we read the same scripture and we see something new we never saw before. We may have an "Oh wow moment" so to speak. The word becomes alive to us and we become renewed in our mind.

Each of us are in the mind renewal process. We are all at different stages or places as we walk with Jesus and that is ok. God only holds you responsible for what you know about him and not for what you do not know. As adults we do not expect a two year old baby to walk and talk as a 12 year old or a 20 year old. Now as the baby grows do we love them any less because they are not grown up all the way? Of course not. We love them all the same. God loves us all the same too! Mind renewal brings us in closer relationship to God and helps us to recognize sat and tactics against us.

Remember to always walk in love towards all people. As Jesus loves you love others. Be patient and kind to one another.

I hope this devotion has  encouraged your heart today. You may comment at ptrc_maher@yahoo.com.
