Push Forward

Everyone in life wants to be successful and prosperous, but how do we accomplish our goals? What is the key to opening the door of prosperity in our spiritual lives? One way is meditation. After Moses died God  chose Joshua to bring the Israelite people to the land he promised them. A land flowing with milk and honey. Joshua had proven himself as he served Moses as a military and spiritual leader. God gave him instructions before he led the people over to the promised land. He told him to be strong and of good courage in Joshua 1:6. Then god tells him in Joshua 1:8 how to be strong and courageous. The verse says this book of the law shall NOT depart out of thy mouth ; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night, that thou mayest OBSERVE to DO according to all that is written therein: for THEN thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

What was God telling Joshua? After all he was about to go into heavy battle with the enemies of Isarel. God is saying look Joshua focus on me. Say what I say. Only think about what I say. Ponder, reflect and study my words. Then Joshua make sure you do what my word says and then you will push forward and have good success.

The word meditate means to engage in thought or reflect. We think about a lot of things everyday. Everyone of us has dreams. Some maybe of a new cherry apple red korvette or a new brick home with a built in pool in the back yard. Our dream job or our soulmate. I am dreaming and believing God for a newly built log cabin home. I can see the lay out of the rooms, details of my kitchen, and the beautiful fireplace in the living room. As you can tell I have mediated, pondered, and reflected on my new log cabin home. Several years back God showed me Joshua 1:8. The scripture became alive so to speak. I meditated on this verse over and over. Slowly I got the message. The key to pushing forward is meditating on Gods word. His promises. Then I was led to another scripture which was Matthew 6:33 which says in red letters Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Ponder that for awhile! Chew on it like a cow chews the cud! Over and over and over!  If we can learn to choose to think about Gods word and his promises instead of our problems we can live in peace and prosper. Sure we have to deal with problems, but we do not need to meditate in them and allow them to become bigger than our faith. Our faith needs to be bigger than our problem. And how does faith grow? By believing Gods word!
