Think of Others

Philippians 2:3 (NIV) – Nothing should be done because of pride or thinking about yourself. Think of other people as more important than yourself.

Often times The Lord will ask us to do something that we really do not want to do. Usually it is because it is hard or uncomfortable for us.  When that happens, we can come up with all kinds of reasons for not doing it! I have found that the hardest things He requires of me are almost always for the benefit of someone else. I must be honest and say that I sometimes have trouble getting myself out of the way!

The scripture in Philippians tells us that we should think of others as more important than ourselves. Many times the things that are hardest for us will make a huge difference in the life of someone else! So, next time you get that little nudge to do something that you really don’t want to, think of what it might mean to someone else.

This devotion was written from the heart of Beth Reed. I would love to hear from you.

  1. Yes, I agree! I never realized I was being selfish with the process i am in now with my father in the hospital fighting for his life. My precious daddy lives for Jesus, loves Jesus with his entire soul so when it is the Lord's will he will be fine because he will be at the feet of Jesus. It is I that has been called out of my comfort zone to be selfless and know my God is in control :) Pamela Britt Malone
