Shining Light

John 1:4 - In him was life; and the life was the light of men. V. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not; V. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. V. 7 The same came for a WITNESS, to bear WITNESS of the light, that ALL men through him might believe.

Is your light shining? For those of us who know Jesus as our Savior he is our life and light. We are his disciples in the earth to bear witness of that light who is within us, just as John did. As our light shines out to others do not be surprised when they cannot understand the way you live or what you say to them about God. Do not become angry or retaliate against them as this will only draw them away from the light.

Pray for them. Help them. Love them the way Jesus loves them. When someone uses you or hurts you be not offended. Quickly forgive and forget. Yes you must forget. It will not be easy but remember when God forgives you he forgets all! He remembers your sin no more! You say, well he is god he can do that. True enough, but John 4:4 says that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world! Gods spirit lives within you and he can help you to do anything! Even forgive those who have terribly hurt us.

Here is a easy prayer my precious Sunday school teacher, Mavaleen Britt, taught our class. It goes like this: Father God it is the will of my heart to forgive so and so (insert the persons name). I do not want any unforgiveness in my heart. As you have forgiven me I want to forgive so and so (insert name). Say this prayer over and over until you get a release from your spirit. You will be free then and your light will shine once again!

You see, our enemy Satan wants to rehearse the offense over and over in our minds so our light becomes dim and we tend to look like the world. Stop him in his tracks by remembering what god has done by sending himself in the form of his son Jesus to die for all our offenses we have committed. a person reaps what he or she sows. So sow forgiveness and you will reap forgiveness. Then your light will shine for Jesus and your WITNESS will be true!

This devotion was written from the heart of Pat James. I pray the words written will bless your heart. You may send comments to ptrc_ maher @yahoo.com.
