Shining Light

John 1:4 - In him was life; and the life was the light of men. V. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not; V. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. V. 7 The same came for a WITNESS, to bear WITNESS of the light, that ALL men through him might believe.

Is your light shining? For those of us who know Jesus as our Savior he is our life and light. We are his disciples in the earth to bear witness of that light who is within us, just as John did. As our light shines out to others do not be surprised when they cannot understand the way you live or what you say to them about God. Do not become angry or retaliate against them as this will only draw them away from the light.

Pray for them. Help them. Love them the way Jesus loves them. When someone uses you or hurts you be not offended. Quickly forgive and forget. Yes you must forget. It will not be easy but remember when God forgives you he forgets all! He remembers your sin no more! You say, well he is god he can do that. True enough, but John 4:4 says that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world! Gods spirit lives within you and he can help you to do anything! Even forgive those who have terribly hurt us.

Here is a easy prayer my precious Sunday school teacher, Mavaleen Britt, taught our class. It goes like this: Father God it is the will of my heart to forgive so and so (insert the persons name). I do not want any unforgiveness in my heart. As you have forgiven me I want to forgive so and so (insert name). Say this prayer over and over until you get a release from your spirit. You will be free then and your light will shine once again!

You see, our enemy Satan wants to rehearse the offense over and over in our minds so our light becomes dim and we tend to look like the world. Stop him in his tracks by remembering what god has done by sending himself in the form of his son Jesus to die for all our offenses we have committed. a person reaps what he or she sows. So sow forgiveness and you will reap forgiveness. Then your light will shine for Jesus and your WITNESS will be true!

Over Coming Fear

Over Coming Fear

As we search Gods Word fear has many faces, doubt, lack, anger ,and list can go on. Doubt : is a Faith killer, James 1:8 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that waverth is like a wave tossed.  For let not that man  think  that he receive any thing of the Lord. Doubt will destroy our faith and keep the promises of God out of reach. How does doubt enter our heart? It is what you give attention to, if its lack or sickness then you open your heart to the devil to enter in if that all you talk about.

Take Action Real Bible based belief is demonstrated by what we do. Anger:Fear in Action James 1:8 Fear is a spirit that comes from satan and he trys to get us into his plans, Anger: Dealing with fear at the root level is   a liberating key to over come fear. Stress is one way that brings anger out in people ,  and they are not aware of it.Fear based anger can easily become rage, think about the shootings , fear and anger is running rampant today. Love Is the answer. When it comes to getting rid of anger , the antidote is love. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love cast out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. When you know God loves you , your response to life will change dramatically, any anger will be in the past.

Giving is Joy

MSG:"(Romans 12:8) 8 he who gives, let him do it with liberality"

Giving is a joy!! Its done freely to the heart. It leaves a warm feeling inside. I remember the April 2011 tornados, the only thing I lost was power, but everyone in Cordova lost everything!!

I knew I wouldn't get power for a week so everything in my fridge had to go.. I boxed it up and thought well these people need it more than I do. So I boxed all my food and took it to Cordova.

I come home happy!! So happy I didn't even think about food for me and my son. We didn't have a thing! Bad right?! I was like uh opps! I checked the mail that same day later that evening.. (i receive EBT every month.. I wasn't supposta get any til the next month.. And I didn't have any money... ) well I got a letter in the mail saying I had received my amount given and double!!! I praised God!! I went then and bought more food for the people in Cordova!!!

Blessings occur in many ways... Give and see how much god gives back!!

Full Circle

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. (Philippians 1:9 NLT)

This verse is from a letter wrote by Paul and Timothy to the church in Philippi. This verse was directly from Paul. He was expressing his love, care, and warm wishes to the church.

This verse particularly stands out to me, personally, because it is Rheims word for me. I read this verse a couple if years ago for the hundredth time but this time it took on so much more meaning for me. I understood it! I believe that it is translated backwards. But it still holds the Truth of God and how to get closer to Him.

We've all heard if love at first sight but hopefully we all also know that that doesn't happen. Not the kind of true and intimate love that we all long for, anyway. It takes knowing someone, thoroughly, to love them intimately. The more you know someone; their faults, their flaws, their imperfections, then and only then can you say that you love them unconditionally. Right?!?

Well, the way we get to know God is by reading His word. After all Jesus was the Word wrapped in flesh. So the more we read God's word and meditate on it; the more we know Him! And it's impossible to truly know God and not truly love Him!!! And the more our knowledge of Him grows the more our love grows and the more we desire to know about Him! The more we know Him and love Him the more we turn to be like Him!!!

It's a beautiful, wonderful, cycle! Read your Bible! Get to know your amazing God! Let your love and knowledge for Him grow!!! And pass it on! Let this beautiful cycle come full circle in your life so that it makes it to someone else!

Thanks for reading today's devotion! I hope it has blessed you in some way! If you have comments, questions, or prayer requests please feel free to email me at

Noah Did

Gen. 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of The Lord.
Gen. 6:22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
Gen. 7:5 And Noah did according to all that The Lord commanded him.

From an early age many of us have been taught the story of Noah.

God was not pleased with the people and how they were living. The Lord saw the wickedness of man and that there was only evil in their heart. The people were so bad that God was sorry He had made them. So the Lord decided he would destroy man and animals alike. (Gen. 6:5-7) But one man found grace in God's eyes. That man was Noah. God instructed him to build an ark that would save himself, his family and 2 of each kind of animal. If the people were so evil and wicked that God was sorry He made them, just think about what they must have thought about Noah. Think about how he must have been treated. They must have thought he was nuts!!! Building a boat in the middle of the desert. They had never even seen rain before!! I imagine that his life was miserable. But, the Bible tells us two times that "Noah did" according to what God commanded him. Noah obeyed The Lord no matter what others may have thought of Him. I wonder how many of us can say that???? I can't say I always have.

So, today let me encourage you and me!!! When we KNOW that The Lord has commanded us to do something for Him, let's not listen to all the voices around us. Let us ONLY listen to the voice of our Father. We may think that what He has asked us to do will cause others to think we are nuts, but look at Noah's example. Forget what others are saying and "just do it"!!!

Peace & Unity

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

Colossians 3:15

Getting along with other people is super important. It is important enough that God mentions it several times in the Bible. We as his children should be so different from the rest of the world because of our LOVE for one another! Little misunderstandings or differences that can so easily blow up into big arguments should be handled ASAP! All the "he said this and she did that" must stop. It only adds fuel to the fire when you whisper about it with other friends. Think about it this way. Unity and peace are more important. If you have a problem with someone, go to them and talk it out. You will feel so much better. Don't wait! Start spreading peace and unity today!

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Rev 12:11

I love this verse in the Bible. It has so much hope and victory and promise wrapped up in it! Overcomers!!!! They overcame him. Who? The devil! By what? The Blood of the Lamb and the Word of their testimony!!!!

There have been so many songs written about this verse over the years also! One of the newest ones is by Mandisa. She gave a wonderful speech about the song when she won a reward recently. I wanted to encourage you with it today!

When she was talking about writing the song and what it meant, she said the most freeing statement. She said that the overcomers were the ones in the midst of the battle. The ones overcoming everyday to fight. Not the ones that had already overcame but the ones in the midst.

I want to encourage you today, that you can be an overcomer in the midst of your battle! You can overcome by The Blood of the Lamb and The Word of your testimony!!!!!! You can still count yourself an overcomer even in the process of overcoming! Those are the true overcomers! Those in the trenches!!!

So if your life is in a messy place right now - be at peace! Let this scripture guide you! Overcome by The Blood of the Lamb and The Word of your testimony!

Apply The Blood of Jesus to every situation in your life! Testimony means divine truth! One thing we know for sure that is truth is the Word of God! So find you a scripture to be your testimony!!!!

My testimony is Isaiah 43.

But now, this is what the Lord says he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel:

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;

I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush[a] and Seba in your stead.

Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you.

That testimony will always be the song in my heart! And I will always be an overcomer because of it and The Blood!!!!

Thanks for reading! I would love to connect with you! Email me at I would love to minister to you!

Born of the Spirit

John 3.5 (Jesus speaking) Verily verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. V. 6 - That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.

Nicodemus, a Pharisees and one of the rulers of the Jewish people in Jesus day came to him by night.  Nicodemus knew there was something special about Jesus. He recognized that jesus must have come from god .

Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again to enter the kingdom of god. He was so puzzled at the masters words.
Jesus let him know quickly that whatever is born of the flesh (natural birth ) is flesh and whatsoever is born of the spirit is Spirit.

How does that apply to us today you may ask? Well mankind is born into the earth with a physical body, a soul, and a spirit. At this point our spirit has not been born to god. We come into the world marred by sin because of the  choice Adam and Eve made in the garden of Eden.

When the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and we accept Jesus as our Savior our spirit is born to god and we are also born into his kingdom. Praise god! All things of the past are gone and a new life in Christ begins. Unfortunately if a person does not accept Jesus as his or her Savior before they die they cannot enter the kingdom of heaven because their spirit was never born to god.

Let me encourage you today to know that God loves you so much that he gave his only begotten son Jesus to the world so we can be forgiven and have eternal life. To be born of the spirit of god changes your entire life forever! I know because Jesus saved me 28 years ago and I have never been the same since! He is still working on me but by his mercy and grace I am changed and life is good!

I pray this devotion touches someones heart to accept Jesus today!  From the heart of Pat James. You May comment at I would love to hear from you.

Unfailing Love

So we know and rely on the love God has for us.

1John 4:16

There are very few absolutely sure things in the world, things that you can put your trust in all the time. Friends and family will fail you every once in a while and stuff certainly breaks down.

But....... The one and only thing you can count on every single time is God's love for you!! When everything else falls apart. When you feel like you are all alone in the world. You can always count on the fact that God is there for you and he is always loving you! His constant love is a foundation that you can build the rest of your life on.

So always remember to praise and thank God for his pure, never changing, constant, unfailing love. Because you can always count on God's great love for you!!

My Refuge and My Fortress, My God

My refuge and my fortress: My God

Psalms 91
I love this Psalm because it reminds me that God is my shelter in the times of a storm. I can rest beneath His wings until the storm has passed.
Verses 1-4
It's talking about trusting in the Lord and He will be there, watching over you. Trust Him with all your heart.  Your enemies will try to bring you down with their actions and their words. But, God is protecting us as we trust and believe in Him.
Verses 5-8
It's talking about that we don't have anything to be afraid of because we serve a mighty God.  God protects us from the evil day in and day out.  Evil will get its own reward on earth, not like we do as believers in Heaven.
Verses 9-13
It's talking about putting God first in our lives.  With God first we have protection and don't have to give evil any authority in our lives. We have the authority to call upon angels to help us. We have authority over the enemy of our souls.
Verses 14-16
I especially like these verses because they tell me that whatever trails and tribulations I am going through- I am not alone.  God is right there with me.  He answers me whenever I cry out to Him. He is there through the highs and the lows- He is always there.
I can honestly say that the Lord,  "He is my refuge and my fortress;  My God, in Him I will trust."
Thank you for reading this and may God bless you,

Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10:24

Have you ever noticed the best teams of any sports are always cheering on one another. Team members encouragement help other teammates play better! It doesn't matter if they are the ones on the bench waiting to play or other players in the game you can hear their shouts of praise, instructions and encouragement. This might sound kind of silly but it is true!

The members of God's family should do the same thing! This challenge in Hebrews ask you to think about how you can encourage others to be the best person possible. You can have a part in another person's future by encouraging them to love others and obey God!! And then that person can do the same for you too! What an amazing team that would make!!

Judge Not

Matt. 7:1-2 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Have you ever made a snap judgment about someone without really knowing them? Have you ever judged something they did without having all the facts? I'm sure that at one time or another we have all been guilty of this. I had this done to me. Someone made a judgment about me without knowing me at all. I am sad to say that I have also judged someone without really knowing them.

Several years ago a lady came to work for the bank I work for. She was sent to my branch to help for a few days. I remember thinking to myself "There is NO ONE that is this nice". Then I met her parents, and you got it, they were just like her. (well, I guess she's just like them). As time has gone by I have become great friends with this women and her family. I sometimes think about all the blessings I would have missed out on if I had held on to those first thoughts I had of her.

This scripture in Matthew is very clear. We are not to judge others. If we do the same measure of judgment will be given back to us. I know it's not easy. Just last week I encountered more mean people than I have in a long time. I let them get to me. After a few days this scripture came to me. I have no clue what these people may have been dealing with that caused them to behave in a rude manner. But no matter what it was, I am not to judge, only love.

I would just like to encourage you, and me to THINK before we form an opinion about someone or something. We just may let a blessing slip past us!!!

This devotion was written from the heart of Beth Reed. I would love to hear from you.

Always Victors!

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? (Romans 8:31 NLT)

This is a great verse! A wonderful promise of God! And something we should always remember!

In life we always face trials, tests, and hard times with hard opposition. But the bottom line is that if we live for God and keep ourselves inside His will, He is for us and we will always come out on top!

Currently I'm dealing with some things in my life. My husband and I foster our niece. We are not actively fighting for custody or any such thing. We simply keep her because her mother lost her right to. And in the chance that her mother is not able to get her back, she will be placed with us by the state. We have no effect or control over the situation at all. Being the type A personality that I am, the "no control" part is hard for me. I like to be able to plan and make provisions. But it's hard to do that in this situation. We just have to sit back and leave it up to God.

When court dates come up it's very easy to get nervous. I mean, this baby has been with us since she was 3 weeks old. She is 9 months now. I feel like she is my own. I know she's not, but, being a mother and having a newborn placed in your sole care, one tends to bond and become attached. Hence my nervousness. I don't want to lose her. If I knew her mom was doing better and had turned from her addictions and was ready to be the mother that she needs, I would feel differently. But that is not the case. I love this baby! I want the best for her. I want her to be taken care of and loved and to be put first (well, second only to God and no other substance or person). But that is not going to happen if things continue as they are.

When court is approaching and I feel myself begin to worry, I start praying and reading the Bible. This verse is one of the main ones that I try to keep myself in remembrance of. When I start to think, "What if she lies and they believe her? What if she is not ready and she gets her back anyway?", I just meditate on this verse and others like it. It helps refocus things for me. I trust in God. I truly do. And I know that if the baby goes back to her birth-mother it will be God's will. That is my prayer. That His will is done in the baby's life. I trust that God will protect her. If her mother straightens up and is going to be the best place for her, she will be there. But in the mean time, I'm doing my best to keep myself inside God's will and to keep my home a place that always points to God. That way if she can't be with her birth-mother, she can be in home where she is loved, and where she will learn and grow to know her Heavenly Father! We are always victors when we love God and find comfort in His will!

So the bottom line is no matter what the situation is that you're facing; no matter how hopeless it may seem at the time; no matter what lawyers, or judges, or doctors, or bankers, or bosses, or anybody says, if He is for us who can can be against us?!?!?!

Community in a Christians life is an important thing!

Community -people with common background: a group of people with a common background or with shared interests within society

There are all kinds of great scriptures on community in the Bible! I am not sure what kind of church you may go to, or even where you might be from, but you need to be involved in the community of a local church!

Acts 2:42

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer.

When you share your life in a community of believers it makes life so much easier! One if the tricks the devil likes to use on believers is: your problems are worse than everyone else's. I mean the devil will have you believing that there is no other believer in the world suffering as horribly as you are. Most of the time this is just a trick of the enemy. Community is the antidote to this age old trick.

If you are involved in a community of believers it is easy to see that everyone has battles. No two people are alike so it might not be the exact same situation, but I would be willing to promise you, you will find someone BATTELING something similar to you that you can relate to. Through Gidly fellowship you will be able to bring them strength and comfort and they will to you like wise. That is the way God designed it!

Being heavily involved in church function for several years one of the transformations that is the most noticeable and rewarding is the growth of community in ones life. It blesses my heart to see someone open up to community, find a group they feel comfortable with, open up to that community, and become family! You can just see the difference on someone's face when they are involved and feel involved. It can make the world of difference!

I hope you are involved in a community of believers that you feel comfortable with, but if not be open to it! It's ok to let people in! Joyce Meyer said a quote the other day that really hit home. She said, "it's ok to admit your not ok." It's ok!!!!!!! Everyone struggles.  If you are already involved in a community of believes I encourage you to encourage someone else this week. Some people have a harder time fitting into a community. Make the extra effort.  If you notice someone not really fitting in at your church take them under your wing. Bring community to them! It only takes two to make a group to have a community!

Thanks souch for taking time to read this today!

If for some reason you life is just really lacking in community and you feel like you have no one contact me!

I'll be your two!

Gods Character

Lamentations 3:21 - This I recall to mind, therefore have I hope. V. 22 - It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. V. 23 - They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. V. 24 - The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

These are one of my favorite scriptures because they speak volumes to me about Gods character. Who is God to you? Do you have a picture of him being some tyrant sitting up on a throne just waiting to condemn you for not doing everything right? A lot of people do. Some say "I am unworthy so unworthy to be in gods house or his presence". Let me say, if you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are worthy by the sacrifice of his blood. Jesus made you worthy by the way of the cross.

As the scripture says above let's recall to mind God's character which can be our hope. First he is ever merciful to us and his compassion fail not. God knows us inside and out, so you cannot hide your sin and failures from him. Instead run to him as he is so merciful and compassionate. Rest in the fact that he can be know other way because mercy and compassion is who he is.

Guess What? His mercy and compassion on new every morning! Wow! As humans we tend to hit ourselves over the head when we sin and cannot seem to forgive ourselves. But god is waiting with open arms saying every morning "Just come to me. I forgive you. I love you!"

So great is God's faithfulness to us! Another part of his character. He cannot be any other way. So this day make the LORD your portion and trust in him. Rest knowing his character cannot ever change!

This devotion came from the heart of Pat James. I hope you enjoyed it! Any comments you may contact me at

Over Coming Fear

Over Coming Fear

Destroying Fear through Covenant Awareness. When you have joined Gods family of believers you enter into a agreement called a covenant. Fear has no place in us because of our covenant with our heavenly father.

Covenant is a foundation of everything God does, He is a covenant making - and covenant keeping God.  Our Covenant with God ; How it all started. Journey back to the garden of eden and look why the whole thing got started. God created mankind and give him dominion over everything on the planet; Unfortunately , Adam and Eve foreited  everything that was rightfully theirs when they disobeyed God(Gen.3) Satan enter the garden began speaking to Eve and this contradicted what God said, they took the bait . One act of selfishness cost them everything. Adam had Authority on the tip of his tongue,  the spirit of fear corrupted everything. God had a plan in place to redeem man, Jesus was the answer!

Where we fit in is our relationship with Jesus Christ  , by faith is what connects us to the blessings of the covenant of Abraham Gal.3:7-9 . Fear Tolerated is Faith Contaminated.  Since fear  and faith operate by the same principles and are supernatural connectors , satan knows there is nothing he can do to change the way things work.Keeping our faith pure is going to take effort on our part.  Building Confidence in the Covenant. Building confidence doesn't just happen over night,  rehearsing the word is key to getting rid of fear and building up faith.God wants his covenant to become part of our spiritual system.  Refuse to Worry.  Matt.6:25 read  , When you give so much mental energy to concerns that you began to worry, you have opened the door for enemy. The greatest fear satan wants you to believe God want come through for you in the word , Keep His promises. He accomplishes this by speaking to our hearts and minds with negative words, then if left unchecked  worry is the result. He has our back, when negative thoughts come 2Cor.10:5 cast them out.

Colossians 4:2

Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving;"

Always stay in prayer. It really helps. I do it daily. Sometimes running a register is stressful, ugh!! But I close my eyes and I say a little prayer. The weight lifts right off and I can then continue my job :)

Be thankful for everything god has given you, even if it's just the day itself still be thankful.

God can bless you just for that.

Clean up time!!!

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

Anyone that knows me well can tell you all about my obsession with cleaning! I clean almost everyday! People come over to my house and I drive them crazy for sure! They put a cup down and I have it washed and put away before they can blink their eyes. I drive my family crazy with my little obsession too! My daughter gets out a toy to play with and before she knows it the toy is put back up in its perfect place! My husband walks in the door from work and I ask him to take his work clothes off so I can wash them! He doesn't find my cleaning funny sometimes!

I bet some of you are the same way. When you bake a cake you wouldn't pour the batter in a dirty pan to bake it would you? You wouldn't invite company over and serve them dinner on dirty plates would you? No I'm sure you all wouldn't do that.

Think about this.... We all focus on cleaning things on the outside. Some more than others! Hahaha! But we all clean stuff in our house. We also need to focus on cleaning up our hearts! A prerequisite for being used by God is getting cleaned up on the inside. Before God gives you a vision of what your future might be, ask him to clean up your heart. I pray all the time for God to reveal to me all sins the known ones and maybe the ones I've been ignoring. You can pray that prayer too! When he shows you, confess that sin to him and then turn away from whatever it might be! Let's all take charge of clean up time!!

Thank you so much for taking time to read today's devotion!! My name is Mandy Robertson, but I'm sure all my family and friends figured that out already! :) I love to read everyone's thoughts so please comment below!

Happy Birthday to you and me.

I John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

This past Monday was my birthday. To be honest, it's not always my favorite day. The trouble is that each year I pray that by the next one God will have answered my most heartfelt prayer. When He hasn't it makes me sad.

This year I was wished "Happy Birthday" in every way you can think of. By phone, text, email, "snail mail", facebook, twitter and instagram. I was given flowers, a cupcake and even sang to at the walking track. I was wished "Happy Birthday" by family, church family, co-workers, "old" friends and new. That night I thought "What would it be like if we treated each other as if it were our birthday everyday?" If everyday  we showed each other the love we do on our birthday, just think how different this world would be!!

Now, I am not always good at showing love to others and I'm sure I'm not alone. But love is of God!! Let's show love to others even if it's not their birthday.

This devotion was written from the heart of Beth Reed. I would love to hear from you.

Be Glad in It!

 1 Chronicles16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
God is so good! He shows us mercy and love when we do the exact opposite of what could be considered "deserving". He blesses us everyday! When we wake up every morning, rain or shine, whether metaphorically we are on top of the mountain or in the deepest darkest valley, we are blessed! Psalm 118:24 says "This is the day the lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it." And so shall we!
Every new day is a new opportunity! To right wrongs, to bless others, for redemption of ourselves, for salvation of lost loved ones, forgiveness. It's a second chance. The possibilities of what we can accomplish with one more day are endless!! Each beautiful morning is a good and perfect gift from God!
We must never fail to seize the day! Never leave things undone or words unsaid. Don't do this in fear of death. Do this to simply make the absolute most of the time and the days you are given. As it says in Ecclesiastes 8:8, we do not know what the future holds. We must simply live each day so that there will be no regrets if someone does not get a tomorrow.
Speak life in to people and every situation. Love. Be compassionate. Live each day in a way that honors God for the gift that He has given us in it.

Just Let Go

We Interrupt Your Life- For The Plan Of God

The great Christian writer C.S. Lewis indicated that we are all actors in a Devine play.

"But how can the characters in a play guess the plot? We are not the playwright, we are not the producer, we are not even the audience, We are on the stage. To play well the scenes in which we are "on" concerns us much more than to guess about the scenes that follow it."

We are not the playwrites of our lives- God is. We cannot hand out scripts to the folks in our lives and demand that they play their parts according to what we have written for them. That only leads to anxiety and frustration.

Consider Job- he had a script for his children and wanted them to play their parts. (Job 1: 4-5)

Demand of God or gamble with Him and you will loose.

"Where were you when I established the earth?" Tell Me if you have understanding." Job 38: 4-5 Holman Christian Standard Bible

When it's God's will vs. our will we must step aside. God has a great plan for us and our loved ones. We cannot write their parts for them. Chances are that God's plan is bigger and better than anything we could possibly imagine.

"For I know the plans I have for you"- this is the Lord's declaration- "plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Surrender and let yourself go for God's plan for your life. It's greater than anything that you can possibly imagine.

Just let go.

Love Walk

John 15:10 - If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. V11 - these things have I spoken unto you, that your joy might be full. V12 - This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Jesus is speaking in theses verses telling his disciples about how to stay connected to him and the Father. It is by love. Everything we do should be motivated by love. Jesus commands us to love one another as he loved us. We understand mentally what he is saying, but let's look alittle deeper, because what he did we should do.
1.) He laid down his life willingly for sinful man.
2.) He suffered mentally, emotionally, and physically for us.
3.) He loved those who persecuted and hated him.
4.) When he was accused he kept silent or said what his father said.
5.) Jesus healed the sick, delivered the oppressed, and spread the good news.

Everything Jesus did was in love. He stayed connected to his Heavenly Father by walking in love. Listening only to what the Father said. So as believers if we want our joy to be full we must love one another as he loved us. Impossible you may say, but the word says nothing is impossible with God!

It is all about our choice to believe his word and walk in faith or not. If we abide which means stay close to him we will learn to walk in love as he did. It is a life long process for us to be transformed into his likeness so do not be discouraged when you fail. God knows all about our human frailties but he loves us so much he sent jesus anyway. He is an awesome God!

You Can Make It

Psalms 91:7

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you."

Even though the world throws every turn at us in every way it can. And it may seem as if one cannot make it another day....God is still there. Satan cannot touch us as long as we hold our faith strong and remember daily God is as he says he is: believe that and you can overcome and nothing can take that away.

God bless!

Over Coming Fear

Overcoming Fear

Deu.30:19 says, "I have set before you Life and Death, Blessing and cursing; therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live."

A choice of Faith or Fear. Understanding which one you walk in each day is important; same as Life or Death.  When you choose to yield to the law of fear ,you are essentially submitting yourself to the law of sin and death. Everytime we embrace fear of any kind, we are cancelling out our faith.

Set free from bondage.

Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of  bondage again to fear; but ye have received the the spirit of adoption, where by we cry , Abba Father.

Fear is a dangerous spiritual force that is synonymous with bondage. According to Romans 8 :15 there is a few things to note about fear , it is something that has to be received from the outside , which means its not a characteristic of our re- born spirit. What does bondage mean?  The condition of being involuntarily subject to a power , force, or influence. Fear is torment as believers we need to speak Gods word.

Isaiah 54:4 makes a promise to those who are part of Gods Family .

In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear and far from terror;for it shall not come near thee.

When we know our rights as believers , and put our trust and faith in God we can live a peaceful , fearless life in the midst of a dangerous world.

Love = Obeying God

This is love for God: to obey His commands.

1 John 5:3

If a stranger at the mall walked up to you and asked you if you loved God what would you say? Most of us would say yes I think. But what would our answer be based on? Most of us are familiar with God. Most attend church somewhere. Most of us pray and read our Bibles. We turn to God when we are in a bad situation or we are upset about something. But saying you love God is not like saying "I love to go to the beach," or saying "I love to run."  No friends, loving God has obedience attached to it.

Whether or not you really love God will be obvious to Him and others by your obedience. Obeying his commands shows your love. Where can you learn more about God's commandments you ask? It's easy. Read your Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to help reveal His word to you!!

This Little Light of Mine

Matt. 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.    No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

This past Sunday I could overhear the LifeKids Sunday School class singing "This Little Light of Mine". It reminded me of when I was a kid singing this song in Sunday School and on the church bus to and from church. Not until I was older did I realize the song was inspired by the words of Jesus found in Matthew Chapter 5. The message is simple. We as Christians are to be the light in this often dark world. No matter what is going on around us we are to let our light shine for Him. We should never hid our light no matter what others may think of us. There will be times when opposition comes to us but we are to let our light shine for Him. We are to be "shinning" examples to others so that everyone will praise our Heavenly Father.

So, if you encounter a situation where you feel like your light is not welcome just remember these words :
This little light of mine
I'm going to let it shine
Oh, this little light of mine
I'm going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm going to let it shine
Let it shine, all the time, let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm going to let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm going to let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm going to let it shine
Let it shine, all the time, let it shine.

Passion and Compassion

John 8:7  So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Just in case you don't know, this verse is from the recount in the book of John, of a woman who was caught in sin. An angry mob brought her to Jesus and told him what she had done and asked Him what they should do since it was the law of Moses to stone her. The woman they wanted to stone was an adulteress. She never denied it. The religious leaders; the Pharisees new that and they used her sin to try and trip Jesus up so that they could condemn Him. What the Pharisees didn't foresee was that the mob had something in common with the woman. She was a sinner. But they all were sinners. The only difference was that her sin was known; public. However they realized, when Jesus pointed it out, that their sin was no better just because theirs' was secret.
I think that this verse is one of the most important in the new testament. For it to be such a short response from Jesus, and knowing the immense situation He was put in; it was perfect. It was simple but so deep and meaningful. He could have gone in to great detail and argued with these people. He could have thrown their own sin back at them. But instead He left it to them. He let their own conscious handle the problem of calming the blood thirsty mob.
I think sometimes we forget that sin is sin. No one sin is better or worse than another to God. I know from our view point, this is hard to swallow. Some are unthinkable let alone comparable. But we are forgiven and therefore we are expected, even required, to forgive others. Especially when we consider the fact that we are no ones judge. We don't get to decide anyone's worth. If we judge someone who has sinned and decide that they aren't good enough for our forgiveness, how can we expect the Creator of the Universe, the Awesome, Mighty, Holy, God of Perfection, to forgive us? Matthew (NLT) 6:14 says "If you forgive others who sin against you, your heavenly Father will for give you." Matthew (NLT) 7:1-2 says "Do not judge others and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged."

I believe that the bible is very clear. It is not our job to punish people for their sin. We are not perfect and are covered in our own sinful flesh. So how can we see clearly enough through eyes blurred by our own sin to righteously deal with the sin of others. We can't. It is our job is to show others the love of Christ. He commanded us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. He then said that there were no greater commandments than these. I have never read or heard of a verse where Jesus commanded us to dislike others because of their sin. Or for us to be ugly and condemn people whose sin we find out about. Or for us to turn people away from the House of God if they are found to be sinning. Passion for God and compassion for everyone else is what is required of us. And that's it, short and sweet!

The Simplicity of the Holy Spirit * part 2

*** This was a 2 part devotion. You can find part one here.

The Holy Spirit is really a simple message. People sometimes, in our human nature, get in the way and over complicate things and make this a difficult subject to communicate or understand. It is so simple though.

Here is where part 1 left off.
#4 - Your mind doesn't have to understand it.

You might not completely understand the Holy Spirit or all the He can and will do for you right now, and guess what that is totally ok! All you have to do is have the faith to say "I'm not really sure about this God, my mind doesn't really understand, and I'm ok with that. I want everything the Word of God says I can have."

The kind of faith it takes to receive the Holy Spirit is what I find so beautiful about the whole process. That child like trusting faith. Just knowing it is good, the Bible says I can have it, and I am willing to receive it!

#5 - Spiritual Gifts

When you receive the Holy Spirit you receive access to many spiritual gifts. Some might be spontaneous, some you might have to terry (pray and covet) after.

You can read about them in 1 Corinthians 12.

Message of Wisdom
Message of Knowledge
Miraculous Powers
Different Kinds of Tongues
Interpretation of Tongues

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributed them to each one, just as he determines.
(1 Corinthians 12:11)

The gifts are for everyone who has received the Holy Spirit! You might have one or you might have all, but you will be given gifts!

The Word tells us to eagerly desire the greater gifts! (1 Corinthians 12:31)

This is something we need to pray about and go after once we receive the in filling of the Holy Spirit!

Here is a prayer you could pray right now to receive the Holy Spirit!

God I come to in Jesus' name. I desire to have all that you have to offer me. I have been told about the Holy Spirit. I might not understand it in it's entirety and that's ok. I trust You and Your enough to know you would never lead me astray. I invite the Holy Spirit to in fill my life. All of me! Take over. Fill my mind, my soul, my body, my heart. Everything. I receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus for giving me the Holy Spirit! I declare it done in the name of Jesus! Amen!

See how simple the Holy Spirit is! That's all it takes. You just have to be willing for Him to move in your life! If you received the Holy Spirit for the first time please leave us a comment here! This is something you should be so proud about! You might not understand it all, and that's fine! Sometimes I don't understand! You just have to have that faith and knowledge that God would never offer you anything that would harm you! He wants everyone to receive the Holy Spirit! And deep down everyone wants to receive the Holy Spirit, He created us like that!

Listen Listen Listen

Be still and know that I am God.  Psalms 46:10.

In the fast world we live in our time to speak with god in prayer gets either on the back burner or a quick I need list. We tend to have time to tell him all of our frustrations and problems but do we listen to what he has to say back to us? Who is smarter the god of the universe or us? Of course that is a no brainier! He is!

In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says for us to ask and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Now if we are seeking something we must expect to hear an answer, but most of us do all the talking and not enough listening. Listening is something we have to make a conscious effort to do.

When we communicate to others they talk we listen. Then we talk they listen. We speak to god in prayer we talk, talk, talk, talk.  Then we get up and go our merry way wondering why God is not answering our prayers. Maybe it is because we are not being still long enough to hear him. Let me encourage you today to take the time to be still and know that he is God! He loves you and wants to give you the desires of your heart!

So the next time you are in prayer listen, listen, listen.  And just to let ya know, if ya are a talker, like me, he will never give up on us because he is faithful! Boy have I got alot of work to do learning to listen myself! May God bless you this day and always!

The Simplicity of the Holy Spirit * part 1

The Holy Spirit is an easy subject for me to talk about. I have been spirit filled for most of my life. I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at a really young age. I was following my Gran Gran around late one night as she was walking around her bedroom praying. I followed her every step. At one point she stopped and kneeled down to pray with me. She could sense I knew there was more, and I did. She asked me if I wanted to receive the Holy Spirit. I said yes, repeated after her, and that was that. With the innocence faith of a child I received. I have been Spirit Filled ever since.

The Holy Spirit is really a simple message. People sometimes, in our human nature, get in the way and over complicate things and make this a difficult subject to communicate or understand. It is so simple though.

#1 - Everyone needs the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is for everyone right now! It didn't end with the disciples. You need it! It gives you power! You can fight spiritual warfare and ask for super natural guidance all day long every day but unless you have the power of the Holy Spirit you won't make it far.

#2 - The in filling of the Holy Spirit is a separate event from your salvation.

When you were born again {confessed Jesus was your Lord and Savior and believed} the Holy Spirit came into you and made your Spirit alive.

The baptism {in filling} of the Holy Spirit is a separate event from your initial salvation. {it can happen at the same time of salvation if you ask and receive it, but it is a separate event}

The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 8:16 NIV)

Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. (Acts 8:17 NIV)

When you are in filled with the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit infuses itself through your soul {mind, will, and emotions}.

...suddenly there came a sound from heaven like a rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting... and they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit... (Acts 2:2,4 AMP)

#3 - All you have to do is ask.

It doesn't have to be a big production. You can have a believer lay hands on you or you can just get alone in quit place. You don't have to terry until you receive your spiritual language {sure that can happen when you receive the Holy Spirit instantaneously, but if it doesn't it's ok you can still receive the power of the Holy Spirit}.

All you have to do is pray and ask.
