The more I seek YOU...

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:31-33 NIV)

How many of us have dreams? How many of us have prayers that we want answered? Whether it be wanting to be the next Olympic athlete or wanting a healing you've been praying for. Maybe you want your prodigal son, daughter, husband, or wife to come home to Jesus. Maybe you just want to be financially stable. Whatever the need or want is, God has it set aside just for you. However, we must first seek His righteousness and His kingdom.
How do we do that? We get in our quiet place of prayer and we do exactly as Jesus instructs. We seek. We seek His face, His will, His kingdom, and His glory. We seek the almighty God. The more we seek Him, the more we find Him. Upon seeking Him, He gives us our hearts desire. He gives us those dreams and those things we so desperately have prayed for. How else do we find His will on earth as it is in Heaven? There is no other way. That's exactly what Jesus is saying in this verse. He's saying, "I will provide you with all of these things but first you must seek me".
In other words, don't seek your prayers and your dreams so much that you lose sight of me. Seek me first and I will provide you the rest. That's who I am. I am Jehovah Jireh, your provider. I am Jehovah Rapha, your healer. I am Yeshua, you and your prodigals salvation, and my Father in Heaven is Yaweh, I am that I am. Seek my kingdom first because in it lies your greatest desires and the answers to all your prayers. That's what Jesus is saying.
We have to keep our eyes on Him or else we will simply fall into the waves because we are distracted. Peter did because he took his eyes off of Christ. If we keep our eyes on His Kingdom and His righteousness then all else will fall into place because we are focused and centered on Him and His will. Seek first the kingdom of heaven, and all the rest will be given unto you as well.

Father, help us keep our eyes on you. You know our hearts and you know our needs but sometimes the very prayers we pray are what keep us distracted from you because they are focused on the need itself. Help us to first seek you and then live in the knowledge and peace of knowing that all else will be given unto us. It's your promise to us and we stand on that promise in faith. We love you Father. Open our eyes to see and our ears to hear and help us all to seek first the kingdom of heaven. In your precious holy name we pray. -Amen
