Don't Compare

Psalms 37: 1,4,7
Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong.
Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.
Be still in the presence of the Lord , and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Do you ever find yourself looking around at the lives of people around you?

Do you wonder why some people live however they want yet seem to have it all?

Do you ever feel as if you try so hard to live as The Word of God instructs but you seem to be always waiting for your prayers to be answered?

Honestly I would have to answer yes to each of these questions. I must admit that I often get frustrated and sometimes just want to give up and give in. It is part of satan's plan to try and get us to compare our lives to others and make us feel like they just don't measure up. He wants to try and get us to compromise our morals and values just to get what we think will make us happy. He can make wrong look right. Evil look good. He can cause us to think that God needs our help.

But the word of God tells us that we should not worry or be envious of those who prosper in doing wrong. We are to be still and delight in Him. To wait and He will give us the desires of our heart. Although it can be hard, waiting on Him will always be the best choice. His best is always THE BEST.

So today if you are like me and sometimes get frustrated with how the world is around you let me encourage you to wait patiently for Him to act and He will give you your hearts desire.

This devotion was written from the heart of Beth Reed. I would love to hear from you.

  1. It's hard to understand sometimes! I often wonder why people that are wealthy don't do more to help the work of The Lord? It's not for me to judge. I must remember to focus only on Jesus and remind Him of his word that says ....He will meet all of our needs :) And that includes the work of The Lord. Great devotion Beth. Thank you!
