How many of us have ever been through dry places in our lives, valleys if you will. How many times has our hearts been overwhelmed to the point where we couldn't hear Holy Spirit speak if he had the celebrate love megaphone held to our ear? How many times have we just been angry and bitter because we don't know what God is doing? How many times have we been afraid of the unknown? I believe everyone reading this can account for at least one, probably several, times we've felt at least one of the ways above.
The thing is, we have all been there. We have all had trials. We have all had hard times. We feel so alone even though we have the knowledge that our Father is right there. It's funny isn't it? We know that we have access to the throne room and we can boldy approach the throne of God to receive the grace and mercy we need to make it through. We know we have access to the Holy Spirit to comfort us, guide us, and heal whatever wounds we have. Yet our flesh overtakes us because the physical circumstance is so overwhelming. In these times what can we do? How do we apply what we know?
The answer is simple. We stand. Donnie McKlurkin wrote a song one time and the lyrics are wonderful. They say, "What do you do when you've done all you can and it seems like it's never enough". He goes on to say, "you just stand when there's nothing left to do. You just stand and watch The Lord see you through. Yes after you've done all you can, you just stand". You see sometimes we look for answers from people, whether it be a friend or a pastor that's been there before. We may even look for answers in a book by Joyce Meyer or Edith Ham or even C.S. Lewis, just to name a few. I'm all about reading and encouragement and I'm not discrediting those books or CDs or pastors at all. We find wisdom sometimes that we didn't have before by utilizing all of those outlets. At the end of the day, however, we still have to make a choice to stand. We still have to lay all of our burdens down at the foot of the cross and say "do what you will God". We still have to pray the same prayer Jesus prayed in the garden, "not my will but your will be done father". The bible says, Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV). It also said that we are made overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. So even if you can't see the testimony in your situation, proclaim out loud in prayer that you are an overcomer! Declare what God has brought you through and stand firm and be courageous that he will do it again because he will!
If you are going through a trial in your life right now I want you to know two things. Number one, you are not alone! Somewhere somebody is going through a rough patch as well. It could be the person sitting on the same exact pew as you or it could be someone across the country. Whatever the case, you are not alone. Number two, after you've done all you can, child of God just stand. Stand in confidence, stand in courage, stand knowing that you serve a God who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Stand even though you can't see. Stand even though you can't understand. Yes after you've done all you can, just stand. Don't lose faith. Don't give up and don't back down.
Father, I pray for anyone who may be going through a trial in there life. I pray that Holy Spirit reveals himself to them in a mighty way. I pray the peace that passes all understanding over them right now and I come against the forces of evil that are trying to break that person down. Father you have made us holy and see us worthy. It's not by our actions but by the blood of your Son Jesus. He paid the price through his gruesome death. Satan you cannot take what you haven't given and you cannot kill what you didn't create! Deceiver I bind you and cast you away. You have no power here because our victory is already won! You are already defeated! You have no rightful place among Gods children. Father I pray that Holy Spirit confirms this prayer in the heart of this reader and I declare that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! In your wonderful name I pray. Amen!
I encourage you to consult your pastor or find a good spirit filled friend that will agree with you in prayer over your situation.

I love you guys!!!
Thanks for reading!!!

  1. Such a GREAT devotion Kyle! The scriptures say in Ephesians 6:13.... and having done all, to stand. I have been doing a lot of kneeling on my knees and standing on the Word of God this week. Your precious wife Megan prayed for me this week at church. I LOVE Jesus! I LOVE my church family! Standing, trusting and believing for answered prayers for everyone. Fourth day in a row that Awakening Your Day has touched my heart this week!!! I LOVE it when God speaks directly to you personally! Pamela Britt Malone
