Is Your Isaac On The Altar?

Scripture reference - Gen. 22:1-19

I believe everyone of us has something that we are believing God for. That one prayer that we lift up to Him everyday. For Abraham and Sarah that desire was for a child. The Lord had promised them that their descendants would be as many as the stars in the sky. (Gen. 15:5) Many years went by before The Lord blessed them with Isaac. Finally that prayer was answered! That promise fulfilled!

Abraham had no idea what The Lord would ask of him a few years later. In Genesis 22:2, we see that The Lord instructed him to take Isaac and offer him as a sacrifice. Can you imagine?? The Lord was asking him to give back to Him that which he and Sarah had longed for. What did Abraham do? He obeyed The Lord!!

We see many times in scripture Abraham's faith and obedience. But may favorite is what we see in Genesis 22:5. I have read this scripture many times but one day just one word of it jumped out at me.

"And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will  come back to you.”

Do you see it? That one word is WE. Abraham had so much faith that he knew that both he and Isaac would be coming down from that mountain!! Because Abraham obeyed and showed The Lord how much faith he had, The Lord provided a ram. He promised Abraham that he would be blessed and his descendants multiplied.

Is there someone or something The Lord is asking you to sacrifice back to Him? Is there a dream that He is asking you to totally give to Him? Have you done it? Have YOU put your Isaac on the altar of The Lord?

This devotion was written from the heart of Beth Reed. I pray that each and every one of us that has an "Isaac" that we are holding on to will finally do as Abraham and place it on the altar of our Father. When we obey, we will receive more than we could have ever dreamed or imagined.

I would love to hear your comments.
