Even to the End of Age

"And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of age."
Matthew 28:20

For me, these are the most comforting words Jesus spoke. How many times have you felt alone in life? I have felt alone, even surrounded by people who love me. Yes, even as a Christian, I have felt very alone. Sometimes, because I was Christian. Can you imagine how the disciples felt when the time came for the Messiah to leave them physically? They had been with Him throughout His ministry. They had broke bread with Him, witnessed His miracles first-hand, walked their country with Him, felt His love, watched Him crucified, and beheld His empty tomb. He appeared to them afterwards and for 40 days He stayed after His resurrection. And when it was time for Him to ascend into heaven, don't you imagine how their hearts must have ached? But He said to them, to reassure them...
I am with you always...remember...even to the end of age.

And when you're down, when your spirit is feeling crushed, when you feel all alone, He wants you to remember this too. He is with you.

He is with you when your heart is breaking over a broken relationship.

He is with you when you're grieving the lost baby you never got to watch grow.
He is with you as you look at yourself in the mirror, doubting your self-worth.

He is with you as you struggle with the addiction that you so painfully want to be rid of, but you tell yourself one more time.

He is with you as you sit in the church pew, comparing yourself and never feeling good enough.

He is with you as you walk the school halls feeling like you will never fit in.

He is with you when anxiety comes upon you in the crowded store.
He is with you as you read His words in your prison cell.
He is with you through every single moment in your life. He is with you through every despair, every laughter, every happy moment, and every darkest moment.
Our hope is that through our faith in Jesus, when we've accepted Him as our Savior, we are never alone.  The antidote to feeling alone? Prayer! When you're feeling alone, remember who you are. You are a child of God, reconciled to him through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. And Jesus said to remember! Remember He is always with you!

Even to the end of the world.
