A Time to Weep

Ecc. 3:1; 4
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every purpose under the heavens

A time to weep and a time to laugh,
A
time to mourn and a time to dance

So, here’s the truth……………….. I am a crier! Some people that know me know this while others may find it shocking. I cry when my heart is broken. I cry when I get really tickled and can’t stop laughing. I cry at sappy commercials, movies and TV shows. I MUST turn the channel when the Sarah McLachlan abused and neglected animal commercial comes on or I will be crying for days!!

Over the last several days and weeks I have cried a lot. I have cried for me and my unanswered prayer. I have cried for and with my friends about the trials and struggles they are facing. I have cried for people I know that are choosing to live a life alone and miserable and refuse to see what God has put right in their path. I have cried for people who are refusing to see warning signs all around them.

I have learned in certain cases and around certain people crying is not appropriate or allowed. Many people look at crying as a sign of weakness and even as a sign of a lack of faith. You know those people, the ones that will tell you to “dry it up” or “get over it”. But, in Ecclesiastes we see that there IS a time to weep!! If you like me are a crier do not be ashamed. The Word tells us there will be weeping. BUT, the best part is what we read in Ps.30:5b “Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning”. Yes there will be tears but only for a time!! Joy will come!!!

So, today if you are like me and find yourself in a season of tears let me encourage you with words from Psalm 126:5 “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.”

I would love to hear your comments.

  1. I love you Beth Ann! What a beautiful devotion!! I appreciate you writing this because I know it had to be difficult! You and I are in a season of tears :( I LOVE the verse that says: JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING!!!! I am cautious about allowing my season of tears to turn into the spirit of grief. TODAY....I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE GOD WITH MY ENTIRE SOUL...I CHOOSE TO CAST MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTERS CARES AND MY WORRIES UPON THE LORD.....I CHOOSE LIFE - LIVING IN FREEDOM EVERYDAY!!! I pray for your peace and comfort today, best friend! TODAY IS A NEW DAY :) I love you ~ Pamela Britt Malone
