Then he took the staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
I work in a busy place sometimes! So busy at times it's hard to think. Ever been there?
It was a crazy day in the banking business. The New Year had started, lots of new rules were set in place and when the bank opened, customer after customer after customer came one after the other in my Drive Thur Lane!
My coworker came to work that morning happy and feeling great! Hour after hour she kept sneezing, coughing, dripping, eyes itching and seemed to be getting sicker by the minute!
She said over and over all morning long... "I wonder what is making me sick?"
All day the other coworkers analyzed her problem! Someone made the comment that "it was just that time of the year for germs and hoped she was not coming down with the flu." Another said, "your body's just worn down" and the statement was made that she really needed to leave work and go straight to the doctor!
AND... GUESS WHAT I SAID? Yes, with words of encouragement, love and over 40 years of Christian wisdom, I said......"I'm sorry!"
REALLY??? THAT'S ALL I HAD TO SAY???? Only two little words of...I'm sorry... came out of this mouth?
Not... I love you and I am praying for you or by Jesus's stripes you are healed or you can do all things through Christ? Nope ... All I could think to say in all of my busyness was... I'm sorry :(
Of course I had prayed and ask God to touch her and of course I felt terrible for her but the fact remained that I was entirely too busy to be quiet and listen to God! Honestly, I was caught up in the heavy workload and solely focusing on taking care of business.
By three o'clock my coworkers nose was pouring, eyes were watering uncontrollably when a young lady in the bank blurts out..."I wonder if the big plant setting beside you on the counter is causing the problem?"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? BINGO!!!! THE GIANT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR FACE THE ENTIRE TIME!! WE WERE TOO BUSY TO SEE IT!
The plant was delivered to the bank as a gift. It was beautiful and set on the counter for all customers to see! Once it was taken down, sat across the room, and 15 minutes had passed...there were positively no symptoms of struggle to be found! No coughing, no dripping, no itching! My coworker was perfectly fine! Amazing!
SO MANY LIFE LESSONS TO BE LEARNED!!!
As Christians we must be aware of the devil, his plans to destroy our lives, his plans to stop us from ministering and the beauty he sets before us so that we will focus on worldly pleasures and not on the things of God!
I think everyone is too busy in life today! Too busy to take the time to listen to the small quiet voice of God and too busy with the craziness all around us to take time to STAND ON HIS PROMISES!!!
Fasting is a good way to start anew! Fasting if directed by God will get your heart quickly connected to HIS heart and to the spiritual place that you need to be!
My Pastor preached a sermon that was titled: TRUE FASTING! His sermon really hit home for me. I was struggling that Sunday with a burden and it felt like the BIGGEST GIANT EVER!!! I was reminded that fasting was MY answer! Fasting got me to the place where I realized that I can do nothing but I know MY GOD CAN DO IT ALL!!!
One must listen for God's direction before any GIANT can be removed from your path! Pastor Anthony said, "Fasting is not a choice it's a responsibility! It does not move God but it sure will move you!" I agree.
FIND YOUR GIANT!!!!!!!!!
GOD WILL HELP YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
