Stay Connected

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6, 7 NLT)

This weekend, Josh and I had the opportunity to reconnect with some old friends that we haven't seen in at least five years! This was a couple that we spent all of our time with in the past! We could never get enough of each other! We were that close!! Well, life happened and both couples got married and jobs and just stayed busy and we kind of just lost connection with each other. For the past couple of years God has laid this sweet couple on our hearts! We were full of good intentions saying to each other that we would call each other and we would make plans, but it would always get put off with our busy schedules until finally we decided that we would do everything we could to make plans and keep them!! After dinner and coffee and an all night conversation it was like we never lost connection at all!! We literally picked up right where we left off!

This got me to thinking... We do the same thing to God!!! We get too busy to spend time in the Word and in prayer. We are full of good intentions of "oh, I'll make time for God today." But at the end of the day it just never happens! We have to just get in the mindset of we can't do this anymore! We can't keep neglecting God! I've been there and I am sure many of you have too.

The beautiful thing about this is that just like how our sweet friends were still there and we picked back up like time never happened, God does the same thing!!! He's still there!! He still longs for you!!! He will never leave you or forsake you!! And the more you get back into his word, the more you want him! You just can't get enough of him!!!

  1. What a GREAT devotion! I love when you share your heart! I also believe you and Josh reconnected with your friends and planted the seed of God's never failing love into their lives :) Pamela Britt Malone
