Be Prepared

John 14:1-3  “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

On my way to work the other day I heard the most amazing quote from 95 year old evangelist Billy Graham. He said “One day you will hear that I have died. Don’t believe it. On that day I will be more alive than ever.”

This world is just our temporary home. It is full of trials and troubles. Almost everyone I know is going through something. Jesus told us in his word that we would face these things but in Him we would have peace because He has overcome the world (John 13:33). Jesus promised when He left the earth that He was going to prepare a place for us. His word tells us that He will return one day to take His people home. I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to that day.

If we are to join Him we ourselves have to be prepared. Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people! It’s not a place for “good” people or people who do good for others. There is only ONE way to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Why did The Father send Jesus? We can find the answer in His word.

John 3:16 -  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Romans 5:8 - "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

So, my question for everyone today is, ARE YOU PREPARED??  If the answer to that question is no here is what you need to do to be prepared for that wonderful day when Jesus WILL return:

Acknowledge that you have sinned. Romans 3:23 - For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Repent of your sin. Repent means to turn away from. Acts 17:30-31 - Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Confess Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Romans 10:9-10 - that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you are a prepared person, I'm sure you know someone who is not. My prayer this week is that this devotion will find it's way to those who don't know Jesus and that it will encourage those of us who do, to share the good news so that others will BE PREPARED!!!

  1. Awesome devotion Beth! LOVED IT AND SO IMPORTANT! When I was 12 I worked a Billy Graham crusade in Birmingham Alabama. It was then that I realize the importance of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ! Pamela Britt Malone
