Kindness

Hebrews 13:2 ESV
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.

What a scripture?! I have heard this saying my whole life. I've only recently found that it is actually scripture. I love the fact that it is though. Imagine the thought that at anytime you could be sharing company with an angel! Doesn't that make you want to do something for a random stranger?

When you go throughout your day with this scripture in the front of your mind it would make it much easier to go a few extra miles for a stranger. Whether that stranger is in need or not. But even if it's not an angel just being nice and kind to a stranger is rewarding enough in it's self.

In Matthew 25:40 Jesus says "And the King will say, "I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!" So this scripture along with its context before and after it says anything we do for anyone who is in need when we do for them we are actually doing it for our Jesus!

With these two scriptures alone (and trust me, or look for yourself, there are many more on the subject) the Lord has given us plenty of incentive for doing good, nice, kind, and charitable things not only to people whom we know but more so for people whom we don't. Do it knowing that just the act of love it's self  is all the reward you need. Just the feeling of knowing that you have shown love to someone in the name of Jesus is all you need to know.

So in summation, be kind to every person you meet. You never know if you're being kind to an angel but you always know you're doing it for Jesus!

  1. Yes, one of the most overlooked things in life is just the simplicity of kindness!!!! Being a nice person can be rare these days! I pray for a humble spirit today that every person I come in contact with that the spirit of kindness will over flow :) Thank you for sharing! Pamela Britt Malone
