1 Chronicles 16:9 Amp
9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His wondrous works and devoutly praise them!
Worship!! Worship is such an important part of our relationship with God. When we worship Him, it is our time to get at His feet, to seek His face, and get as close to Him as we can while we are still here on this earth. We draw ourselves closer to Him and we can feel Him draw closer to us.
I have had times in my life when I thought the only way I could worship was in church, listening to what ever song the church was playing at the time. And even then it wasn't always wholehearted unless they were playing one of a few songs which I truly enjoyed.
I realize now how terribly wrong I was. I know I don't have to be in a particular place, at a particular time, with a particular song playing. I don't even need a song for that matter. Now, if I'm washing dishes and feel the need to worship, I raise my hands and and start thanking Him for His goodness and praise Him for His wonders. By the time I'm done I feel renewed, at peace, joyful, refreshed, and like I'm ready to take on anything!
Worship isn't just for God. It is very much for us as well. It reminds us of all the things that God has done for us. As we thank Him for His blessings, it puts us in remembrance of them. It helps us to think on Godly things. It helps us put on the mind of Christ. It breaks bondage, and sets us free. It allows us to casts our cares at His feet. No matter what we are facing in our sometimes hectic lives, it turns our focus to God and helps us to know that He is for us no matter what.
Worship isn't just for Sundays or Wednesdays. It isn't just for church service or worship songs. It is for you and God. It can happen any where you feel the inkling. And for many of us it needs to happen more often. If we set aside time when we get out of bed everyday to worship God, our days would probably go much more smoothly. It would help us remain Christ-minded throughout our day.
So start out your day from now on by getting as close to Jesus as you possibly can. Worship Him. Raise your hands in a sacrifice of praise. Give it all to Him! Draw close to Him and see how wonderfully close He will draw to you!
