Don't let the world infect you

Money never made a man happy nor will it. The more a man has, the more he wants
By: Ben Franklin

1st Timothy 6:6-10
Godliness with contentment is great gain for we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it but if we have food and clothing we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evil.  Some people are eager for money have wandered from faith and pierced themselves with many greifs.

Do you ever feel like that all you think of is material things? Thoughts consuming us with imagining what kind of nice possesions we wish we could have.

Sometimes the things of the world consume us. We can hold all our blessings with one hand but we the other we are wanting more. We must always remember that our homes, car, salaries, or property isn't our main goal here on earth.

I will be the first to say having nice things are wonderful but its not everything. It's not wrong to have goals or nice things. It becomes wrong when nice things have us. Then we begin to lose focus.

Haggai 1:5-6
Give careful thought to your ways. You vhave planted much but harvest little. You eat but you never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but are not warm. You earn wages only to put them in a purse with holes.

If God blesses you be generous and bless others. Acts 20:35 says you're far more happier giving than getting. You can have more joy helping others and blessing them by showing God's love. Proverbs 11:25 says the generous will prosper those who refresh others will themselves me refreshed.

We also can get so caught up in being successful that we lose the ear to hear God and are not able to listen to what he wants us to do. We can get caught up in striving to be the best. Weather its the best at work or spouse, parent, friend etc...but we must first strive to be like him.

A quote from mother Teresa says it perfect.  We are not here to be successful we are here to be faithful.

Now please remember its not wrong to be successful or want to achieve success but it can't be what we are consumed with. We all was out here for a purpose. To do God's will and be his disciples. This is our temporary home. This world and everything in it will fade away. But God will always remain.

So we must remain focused on the true prize the main reason we are here. So we can inherit everlasting life in heaven. As I close this just rememeber that seeking the good life isn't bad as long as its second to the God life.

At the end of the day God is our only true happiness. So don't place your hope in things that have no lasting value. Besides all the stuff can't go with us to heaven so my advice is to travel light.

What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world yet he forfeits his soul
