We must persevere!

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13, 14 NIV)

In life, we struggle with so many things wether it be relationships, school, or work we have so much to deal with that sometimes it feels like it's easier to just give up. We have to remember not to give up when things get tough.

There's important things to remember when we start to struggle. Sometimes even when we are persevering it seems like there's no light at the end of the tunnel. We must remember:

•People who persevere also experience set backs.

I think we all know one person that ALWAYS gets it right.. They could never make a wrong move, but those people do have obstacles they have to face. They have things they have to overcome also. They aren't super-human and they struggle with things behind the scenes also.

•Choose not to live in the past.

This is the hardest thing for many people to overcome. One of my favorite quotes Pastor Anthony has ever said was, "If you don't let your past die, it won't let you live." How true are those words? We can't live for today because we are too busy regretting things we have done in the past. The past is in the past for a reason! Learn from it and move on! If you are constantly looking behind you, you can't see where you are going. How can you see that light at the end of the tunnel if you aren't looking for it?

•Keep moving forward

The only way to keep moving forward is to let God take control. Not you, not both. ALL of him. Not sometimes, not only when you think you need Him. You always need Him!

•One day at a time

I'm a hairstylist. My life is MADE up of appointments. It's pretty bad when you have to make an appointment to do the dishes. Not kidding either.. So I'm constantly thinking about what I have to do tomorrow or the next day.. I don't live for today. How can I live fully for today if I'm worrying about what will take place tomorrow? How are we doing what God is calling us to do in our day-to-day lives if we aren't fully concentrating on every single minute of every day that He has given us?

•Remember to ask God for help.

We can't work fully for God unless we ask for His help in everything we do. Before I do someone's hair, I pray that God will help guide my hands because I know I can't do anything without Him. I know I need him in EVERYTHING I do. I know my actions are nothing unless He is in every single bit of it. All of Him and none of me.

I hope this has inspired you to not give up when things get tough! Life can be so hard, but it's a lot easier when you let God FULLY take control! If this has inspired you in some way, please comment below! Your story could help others!

  1. So true you are Ashley! Every time I return to the place I use to live (Birmingham, Alabama) I allow the devil to whip by bottom :( I immedatley start getting sad and thinking on poor pitiful me thoughts like....."I use to have a life here with a nice house, nice car and a husband" or I'm so embarrassed that I am the only one here that doesn't have a husband" or "how awful that I am the only grandparent that doesn't have a papa!" ALL these depressing thoughts flood my mind everytime I return to that city! Truth is ..... It is what it is...... Sometimes not so good things happen to good people :( THE thing is to bind the devil in Jesus name and know that God WILL take care of me!!!!! I WILL trust ONLY in you LORD!!!!!!
