I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
As always, my weekend was jam-packed with fun plans, beginning with a bridal luncheon and ending with an end of summer boat ride. But, the main event (aside from Sunday morning church) was a birthday party for a very special friend! This party included dinner, cheesecake and of course, shopping!! So, as the girls left the guys to chat in the mall, we went in to our favorite makeup store when I received one of the sweetest gifts anyone could have given me!! The birthday girl bought ME a present!!! I had already walked out of the store and then she came out with her black and white striped bag and handed me a tube of mascara! I could hardly accept such a gift seeing how it was HER birthday and she had sent HER birthday money! But she insisted that I take it! She said God had spoke to her and told her to go buy Maggi the mascara. She also said that she is always so blessed that she likes to give something on her birthday!
Ok, I know what you are thinking: it's just MASCARA!!!!! But for a girl, mascara from Sephora is a big deal! And what would have happened if she had disobeyed God?? She could have possibly missed out on an even bigger blessing for herself!!!!
You see, God blesses his children so that we can give and be a blessing to others!! When we give in his name, the Bible says we are truly worshipping him! So, I urge you to glorify God through giving!!! Jesus said in Luke 6:38, "give and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." Now if that doesn't make you want to give then I don't know what will!!
This devo was written by the Holy Spirit through Maggi Sellers! I hope it inspires you to give to others! At Awakening Life we love to give! Every third Saturday of the month we give out free lunches to our community. We call this Celebrate Love! I don't always get to go, but when I do it is such a humbling experience that blesses my heart!!
