Who are You Trying to Please??

Galatians 1:10
Obviously. I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

Have you spent your entire life trying to be a people pleaser? I know it is something that I fall guilty to quite often. I cannot stand for people to be unhappy or dissatisfied so I constantly try my very best to please everyone. This lifestyle for me has become so exhausting and burdensome just within the last few weeks! Of course I want to please God but sometimes I end up doing things just to make other people happy, no matter what!! This is totally wrong!!!

Just this week I have felt the Holy Spirit telling me that I need to stop worrying about everyone else and only worry about HIM! If I am pleasing the spirit then I am pleasing God. So, if I am pleasing God, should everything else kind of fall in to place??? It absolutely should and will!!!

So fellow People Pleasers, I ask that you pray this simple prayer with me today and that you will strive to please Him:

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask that you will help me live a life that is pleasing to you and only you in every way. I am sorry for trying to win other people's approval over yours. My heart's desire is to seek you and draw closer to you every day. Amen!

This devo was written from the heart of Maggi Sellers! Thank you for letting me share my with you all as I grow in my daily walk with God!!! You can follow me on Instagram (maggisellers) and twitter (maggisellers86)

  1. His approval is really all we need. I believe that many people are running from God and until they stop nothing we do will make them happy.

  2. I am GUILTY!!!! I can't stand to think people are in strife or unhappy. I will do cart wheels to cheer someone up! The key is to love people and in doing so, keep your eyes on HIM!!!! Be kind to others but the most important thing is to be a God pleaser!!!!

  3. So true Maggi! I needed to hear this. God's approval is all we need. Trying to please other people is cheating ourselves out of peace and happiness. People are fickle and hard to please. You never know just what they want. With God, there's no guess work! He lays it out for us plainly and in easy to follow instructions. We don't have to be concerned about His mood. When we walk in love He is pleased!
