Touchdown Auburn!!

Col. 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Anyone that knows me, even just a little knows that I am a HUGE Auburn Football fan! So as you can guess, January 10, 2011 was an exciting day for me. My team defeated the Oregon Ducks for a LONG awaited BCS National Championship.

One hour before the game even started I was pacing around the living room and up and down the hall. Decked out in my favorite game day t-shirt. Ready for kick-off. Putting my hopes on the arm of Cam and the foot of Wes.

Looking back on that day The Lord as shown me how out of balance I was. Instead of setting my affections on things above I was setting them on things of this earth!

We read in Matt. 22:37 Jesus said unto him,  Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The Lord has shown me that I was loving Auburn Football more than Him.

Now, I will be watching Auburn Football every chance I get this season. But I have had a great reminder from my Father to keep it in proper order. HE should always be first!!!!

My prayer this week as football season gets under way is that no mater which team you root for that we will all keep HIM first!!!

This post was written from the heart of Beth Reed. I would love to hear your comments.

  1. So glad you wrote this Beth!!!! If you live in the state of Alabama you are most likely to either be a HUGE Auburn fan or a HUGE Alabama fan. We should LOVE Jesus MORE!!!!!!!!! The Lord does not care which team we root for just keep your focus on HIM!!!! BTW- keep your opioions to yourself !!! Shocking I know.... I am also an Auburn fan and you would NOT believe the comments I get when I wear orange and blue!!! One day at the bank someone would not let me wait on them because I had an Auburn shirt on! To me that is taking it too far!!!! Have fun but BE KIND!!! Joking is fun but hurting other Christians is NOT!!!!!
