“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
I’ve done a lot of worrying in my life. I’ve worried about grades in school, problems with my car, rising costs of living and a shrinking bank account balance. I’ve worried about bills, jobs, relationships, sickness, and even something so small as to whether or not my hairstyle makes my face look fat- such a silly thing to worry about, right?!
Yet, even with all my worrying, I am here alive and well, my bills are paid, and my car is in working condition. How many hours have I spent worrying- hours that I will never get back? Matthew 6:25 asks, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” So if worrying does nothing to help the situation, what’s the point? It took some time (and some listening to the Lord) to finally realize that I don’t have to worry- in fact, it does much more harm than good.
We as Christians need to realize that God has got our back. Psalm 139:14 says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made- why wouldn’t God take care of something He put so much time and work into creating?
Worrying shows God that we don’t trust Him. By worrying, we are saying that we don’t have faith that God will take care of us; it is the opposite of faith. We need to learn that nothing is impossible with God leading the way; if He leads you to it, He will lead you through it!
The Lord knows what He is doing. If things don’t go the way you planned, clearly God has a better plan for you.‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”’- Jeremiah 29:11. Trust in the Lord and He will take care of you. He has already seen your life- He knows your past present and future and He has great plans for you.
So don’t worry about your financial situation, relationship status, or health- God takes care of his people. You are God’s wonderful creation and surely if you rely on the Lord, He will lead you in the right direction. Lean on Psalm 55:22- “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
