True Beauty

Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last, but a woman who fears The Lord will be greatly praised.

If you know me personally, then you know that I am very girly! I like to dress up! I like for my hair and makeup to be perfect! I like to be pretty!!! But is being pretty on the outside really all that important? The Lord has really been dealing with my heart about this. What is pretty to God and does being pretty on the outside glorify Him? Does what I look like on the outside reflect what is on the inside. I am finally at the point where I would rather be known for my love for Jesus, rather than how I look!

Proverbs 31:30 has been my favorite verse ever since I was a little girl. There is so much meaning in those beautiful little words to me. Pretty doesn't last forever. We get older and we get wrinkles, but Godliness never fades. For so long I have constantly worried about my outward appearance! I literally stress over not having the most fashionable clothes or the most up to date hairstyle. It was almost a really bad obsession!! I was more focused on how people viewed me rather than how Jesus viewed me. Now I am not saying that its not ok to look nice because God wants us to look our very best, but for me there was a problem. I had no balance.

1 Peter 3:3-4 says that your beauty should not come from what you wear. It should come from the inside: having a gentle and quiet spirit. These things are so precious to God. He doesn't even see us on the outside. He looks at our hearts. He wants us to be in awe of him and everything he created. We were made to love and worship him. We should be so consumed with God that when the world sees us they will see him and all his glory, not us at all!! Being pretty starts from a heart being made alive
by Jesus!!

May God Bless You Richly

  2. Thanks for sharing your heart!! It is the Lord in you and all of us that make us beautiful!! The world has given us a distorted view of beauty. We just need to remember that it is His light shinning from us that is the beauty!!!

  3. Amazing Maggi! It's so easy to confuse what TRUE beauty is! We are made in HIS image! He is what makes us beautiful!!!
