Be Kind❤

Jeremiah 31:3 NIV

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness."

Being kind to other people is very easy. Sometimes it is really the little things that make the biggest impact. Smile at a stranger, open the door for someone, cook a meal for someone going through a hard time, compliment a friend, bake cookies for someone just because, send someone a text message just to let them know you are praying for them!  All these things are super easy to do, but the impact can be so powerful. 

Have you ever been having the worst day ever and someone gave you a compliment or did something nice for you? I have and it really turned my whole day around! You never know what people are having to face and are going through in life!

Kindness can help heal a broken heart, ease someone's pain, allow forgiveness to flow, bring friends together, it encourages, inspires others to be kind, warms situations, it makes people feel loved and appreciated, and the list could go on and on....... 

No matter where you are or who you are with, the language of kindness is always so powerful and the greatest part of ALL is it reflects the love of GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤

So make a point to be kind to someone today! Show God's LOVE and KINDNESS to someone!!!! You never know what your act of kindness might mean to someone! BE KIND!

Grace ... What you need to know (part 2)

Grace. Unmerited favor. Love and Mercy given to us by God because He desires us to have it. There is nothing you can do to earn it. Divine favor.

This is a 2 part devotion. here is part 1.

I talked last week on Grace. When God started teaching me on Grace and He made that revelation to me. I hope you liked it :)

I mentioned briefly about the first time I had verbally heard a message preached on Grace that ignited in me. It was Joseph Prince. I was sure he was wrong. I kept pausing the program, getting my Bible out, looking to make sure that those scriptures even existed. What was he preaching on? The old law. Something I new existed, duh the Ten Commandments. I knew the scriptures said that He, Jesus came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. I always took that as we should still keep every law. We had to, right? I was starting to realize maybe I had that wrong.

In 2 Corinthians Paul said these words when talking about the old law:

2 Corinthians 3: 7-8  Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?

I had never read this before. Did he just call the Ten Commandments the "ministry of death?"

2 Corinthians 3: 14-18  But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. 15 Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. 16 But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

It started to make sense. The veil. The veil had been broken by Jesus' death.

Mark 15: 37-38 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. 38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 

I would never want the veil to put back together. I could never live up to those standards. The rules, the punishments. Oh, did I need Grace. You need Grace. We can behold the Glory of the Lord now. We can have freedom through His Grace.

Grace was brought by Jesus. He established a covenant of Grace with us.

John 1: 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 

You see the old law was here to keep us in line, accountable, until Jesus came. Then He changed it all.

Galatians 3: 23-25 Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

After I had this basic knowledge of Grace, God began to move in me. He showed me Grace.

I touched on the subject last week of what Grace teaches us.

Titus 2: 11-12 For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. 12 It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world.

It teaches us to have a desire / passion to live Godly lives.

You see Grace isn't a free pass to live unGodly lives. It does cover you and all your sins that you were already forgiven of 2,000 years ago, but it should not be mistaken for an anything goes lifestyle.The more we sin, the more Grace He gives us.

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! 

That is how it goes. He will always abound Grace towards us even when we sin. Even when we are non deserving. That is how it will always be.

You see you have to understand Grace enough to cherish it, never abuse it, and honor it. To be open enough to let it teach you how to let your life be honoring to God. It was freely given to you as a gift. It will always be there. More than you could ever imagine. There is nothing you can do to make God give you Grace, and if you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior there isn't anything you can do to get Him to take it away from you. It's a funny thing with Grace. It's a gift, and He allows us to take as much as we need. You can dive in as deep as you need and learn to life life at the fullest through Him, walking in the unforced rhythms. Or you can only get your toes wet, just enough to get by. Either way it is always there.

Peace That Passes All Understanding

Philippians 4:7
        Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 

     This past year has been extremely tough for my husband and me. The devil has literally tried to destroy our marriage in every single way possible. Thankfully, God has showed out and now our relationship is stronger now than ever and we give all the glory to Him!!

      But, one thing I have struggled with is having peace about things that have happened!!  It has really taken me seeking God's face and learning what peace really is and learning how to access it!!

In John 14:27 when Jesus is about to ascend he says that he is leaving us with the gift of peace!!! So this tells me that we already have peace, we just have to utilize it!!

Peace finally came to me when I felt God saying, "Maggi, I've got this!! And no matter what the outcome is, I'm still in control! I have a plan and it is perfect!!! It is for good and not harm and it is to give you a future and a hope!" How overwhelming it is to know that He's got everything under control, and that he has given us his perfect peace that only he can give!

Encouraging Others!

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29 NIV)

My heart has always been tender on this subject. I constantly see people tearing each other down when it's supposed to be the complete opposite. In Ephesians 4:29, it tells us to not let ANY unwholesome talk come out of our mouths. If it isn't something that will help someone else, you shouldn't even SPEAK it!! There is so much power in the words we use! Remember in Genesis, God SPOKE light, vegetation, and even the animals on earth into existence. So imagine how much power is in our words? 

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21 NIV)

So how do we change the way we talk to one another? It tells us in Philippians.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8 NIV)

First it starts with our minds. Turn the negativity OFF in your mind! Think pure and lovely thoughts! If we aren't dwelling on negative things, then we can see the positive things in people. Remember we are ALL flesh. If we were all perfect then we wouldn't need a Savior! But we do need Jesus. And if you aren't showing people that, then how will they know?

Factor out the Fear

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over." - Psalm 23:4

With everything going on in the world, the spirit of fear appears to be running rampant. We lock our doors for fear of a home invasion, we keep pepper spray or a gun on us when we walk through a questionable area of town, some of us even check under our beds and in our closets for anything scary; how strong is the spirit of fear!

It's not just an individual struggle, though; we as a nation also have a problem with fear. The very idea of a nuclear attack or bombing from another country sends the entire population in an uproar. Fear of a declining economy, increasing debt, and an oppressive government are fears that run rampant among us as a nation. We put so much stock in what we're afraid will happen that we don't stop and remember that God is bigger than all of that and that He takes care of His people.

Psalm 118:6 reminds us, "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" We should always have that mentality- what can man do to me? This verse tells me that I don't have to be afraid of man or anything from man because the Lord is with me. We serve a God that protects His people; we need only have faith.

God is always with you; He will never abandon you so there is no reason that you should fear anything. The things of this earth are no match for such an amazing and powerful God- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper..." Isaiah 54:17 is pretty clear that there is no weapon made that you can't defeat with the Lord's help. We need to hold tight to the fact that God is always there with us- and with the Lord there, we have a shield that can withstand anything this world has to throw at us.

A Little Bit of Gluten Goes A Long, Long Way

 "A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leaven the whole lump (it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church). Gal 5:9 AMP

 My youngest Niece and I were participating in a 30 day detox program on our road to better health. Among the things that needed to be eliminated from our diet was wheat gluten. We were at an outdoor event and had a variety of healthy snacks that would sustain us throughout the long day until we could get a healthy meal.

 The event had the usual outdoor event faire: hot dogs, funnel cakes, barbecue, ice cream - all off the list of acceptable foods for our program. I was a little hungry and pulled out a pack of cheese and wheat crackers to eat that I had on hand. I asked my Niece if she wanted one and she said,

"Well Aunt Cheryl, you might as well get a funned cake."

 Well she was right, wheat gluten is wheat gluten wether its in a wheat cracker or a funned cake. I thought about how that applies to the life a believer. None of us fell in to an unhealthy lifestyle all at once. We did it little by little by making little compromises.

 Compromise defined -Settlement of differences in which each side yields something.;endanger.

 As believers we need to yield our life to Christ and His Ways and not be so naive as to believe that a little compromise won't hurt us.

 It goes a long, long way

 Prayer: Dear Father, In Jesus Name I thank you for what you did for me at the Cross. I ask that You come in to me and help me live a Holy life. I love you. Amen.

Prayerfully Wait

Prayer!! This subject has really been on my heart and mind a lot lately. More specifically, why it seems my Heavenly Father is not answering my most heartfelt desire. If you have read any of my previous post, I'm sure you know what that is!!

 So, I pulled out my favorite daily devotional "Streams In The Desert".  I went to the subject index and began to read the days devoted to the subject of prayer. This was just what I was in need of!! Reminders of what The Word of God tells us about prayer.

 In the 24th verse of Mark 11 Jesus says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. “ (NIV)

 Jesus said “BELIEVE”!! It’s in red people!!!! But, do I???? Do you???? Our Father desires for us to believe His word without other evidence. Believe because He is not a man that He should lie. (Num. 23:19) Since the time of creation, He has never broken His Word to any of His children. He wants to answer our prayers. He has promised to answer our prayers. However, He is not at our beck and call to answer our request when we think He should. Our prayers must be in His will, based on a promise He has made, be in His time and HE must be glorified.

 Matt. 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

 John 14:13-14 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

 James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

 1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

 Isaiah 30:18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the  Lord  is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

 Psalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

 Now, for me the hardest part is the waiting!! The Father has His own “timeline” for when we will see our prayers answered here on earth. VERY often my time and His time are NOT the same!! And, to be honest there are times when I feel like if one more person talks to me about His will, His plan, His time, or His promises I think I might just scream!!!!!!

 But, sometimes we must wait. When we must, we should wait in prayer, wait in faith and wait in patience. Knowing that our Father loves us and longs to be good to us!!  Again, this is not always an easy thing to do.  However, when we wait on Him, the answer will be better then we could have ever imagined.!!! And as my sweet cousin Sharon once told me "God will not give you crumbs"!!!

Wait patiently wait,
God never is late;
Thy budding plans are in Thy Father's holding,
And only wait His grand divine unfolding.
Then wait, wait,
Patiently wait.

Trust, hopefully trust,
That God will adjust
Thy tangled life; and from its dark concealings,

Never give up HOPE!

Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV
But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." 

I have a question for everyone: What are you hoping for ? What are you trusting God for ? What are you expecting out of life ?

Are you looking and waiting for something wonderful to happen or your expecting to be disappointed from the beginning?

So many people are feeling so hopeless these days. HOWEVER......... Jesus did NOT die on the cross for us to be hopeless! He died so that we could be full of hope and faith!!!

Of course the devil wants to steal your hope and he is constantly feeding us full of lies! He tells us all kinds of crazy lies!!! He tells us that nothing good can happen in our life. That what we are trusting God for will never happen. He tells us to give up. If you are struggling with a difficult  situation he will tell you it will never get better. But that is just it! It is ALL lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And as believers we have to be God lead and know the devil is a liar!!!!! And you have to stay full of hope! God can change everything!!!!!!!

God is GOOD and he has good plans for your life!!!!!

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

If you will maintain your hope, especially in the midst of your battle and uncertain times, he has promised you double for your trouble!!!

So make a choice today to refuse to give up your hope and REFUSE to listen to the lies of the devil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Start expecting God to answer your prayers and do something amazing in your life!!!!

Grace...What you need to know

Grace. Unmerited favor. Love and Mercy given to us by God because He desires us to have it, there is nothing you can do to earn it. Divine favor.

This is going to be a 2 part devotion. The second part is here.

There is a movement of Grace in the church world today. A focus toward living in the New Covenant and not being based or concerned on works of the law. Grace has always been evident throughout the New Testament, how could it not be? It has everything to do with Jesus, what He accomplished for us, what He was sent here to do. Establish Grace. I first heard this message, the new revelation of Grace, preached by Joseph Prince. I will never forget that night. I heard things that I didn't even know were in the Bible. I kept pausing the program, grabbing my Bible, searching, I knew what he had said wasn't in there... but it was every time. How could I had not seen this? I had read these scriptures over and over and over. It seems like since that day everyone is jumping on the Grace bandwagon. Joel Osteen was soon to follow. Creflo Dollar has been preaching it all year so far. Grace. Why now? I truly believe it's the message of today. Just like there where times when everyone was putting emphases on Faith or Prosperity. It's Grace's turn now. It's in the spiritual realm, that's why everyone is teaching on it. It's the rhema Word for today's time.

God first started preparing me for this new revelation of Grace a couple years ago. I began to question something in my heart. What made certain people turn to God, receive salvation, and live the rest of their life trying to please Him? What made certain people turn to God, receive salvation, and return to their previous lifestyles? Why do some people care so much and some so little? God began to speak to my heart then. I began to talk about with other believers, with my husband, anyone who would really listen. I began to get this theory so in my heart that I would tear up when I talked about. This is what he began to "move" in me. I loved God, I knew works didn't matter, I understood that is what Jesus was for, I knew there was a new covenant, but I also knew that deep down I would always be trying to do right for God, that no matter how much I knew I didn't have to do all these things that I would always, that even though I understood there was no need to pay Him back or nothing I could ever do to pay Him back, I would try daily, not because I had to, but because that desire was in me, to some how say thank you for what you have done for me, to somehow let Him know how thankful I was. That was where he started. Grace. It was what I was experiencing. Years later I would find a scripture that summed up everything he had already showed me. 

Titus 2: 11-12

See it was the Grace all along. It is what was brought to us by Jesus. It is what teaches us to have this desire / passion to live Godly lives. It is what we need. It is for everyone. We have to move in the unforced rhythm of grace. Jesus even said it Himself.

Matthew 11: 28-30

Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

Unforced rhythms of Grace. We can't force it. We can't purchase it. We can't make Him give it to us. We can just receive it through salvation and then live in it, move in it, and let it teach us. It really is just as simple as it sounds.

If you are struggling in your salvation, you need a revelation of God's Grace. Sometimes we get so caught up in what we are suppose to do as new or old Christians that we just eventually through our hands up because we make this so complicated and hard. I'm here to tell you this is easy. Live in Grace and God takes care of the rest. Here is a prayer to pray if you are struggling today...

God, I need your help today. The Holy Spirit is starting to reveal to me the principles of Grace and I realize that I have been trying to follow the "rules" all by myself. It isn't working. I need your Grace to be present in my life. I ask for forgiveness for trying to live my life by the old law. My eyes are open now to knowing there is nothing I could ever do too receive your Grace other than confess that I believe in Your Son Jesus. I set myself in agreement with Titus 2 11-12 that Your Grace will train and teach me how I am suppose to live. Thank you for help God. I receive Your Grace and all it has to offer me. Amen.

Sometimes, we might mess up and don’t live, act or talk right. You see people aren’t quite where they should be in terms of living for Jesus, but they love God in their heart. They really do. They mess up, but they’ve got a repentant heart and really want to do right. They’re working their salvation out, day by day, trying to be the person God created them to be. That’s how we all should be!

That is what living in Grace is all about. That is what it teaches you: repentant heart, wanting to do right, loving God, working their salvation day by day, trying to be the person God created them to be, caring and respecting God enough to give Him their all. Grace.

Next week I'll talk about the New Covenant, what the Bible says about the Old Covenant now, taking Grace to far, and more basic principles of Grace.

A Lifestyle of Worship

Hebrews 13:15
    Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

    What does it mean to worship God?  Is it just something we do on Sundays? The definition of worship is to show reverence and adoration.  With that being said, shouldn't we be doing this more than just one day a week?? Worship should be a lifestyle!

In John 4:24, Jesus tells us exactly what true worship looks like.  He said, "the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth!"

So, how do we worship in spirit and truth? So often we go into our worship services and just go through the motions: singing the songs and lifting our hands just because we think that is what we are supposed to be doing.  We haven't even began to scratch the surface of worship when we fall into this routine! God desires for I'd to go deeper in our worship! Our spirits should be making a connection with His! This happens when our hearts and minds are completely focused on Him and all He has done for us!! 

So, how do we apply this to our everyday so that we are living a lifestyle of worship?? 1 Corinthians 10:31 says to do everything you do unto the glory of God. Whether it be at home,work, church, or anywhere, do everything as if you are doing it for God!! Give him your very best!!

I try every morning when I pray to offer myself up to God as a living sacrifice of praise and worship. I pray that He will help me live my life so it is pleasing to Him! To be holy because He is holy! That is a lifestyle of worship! Pastor Bill Johnson from Bethel Church says, "there's no better trade off than me giving all I am to receive all that He is!" That is so true!!!! There is no better deal than surrendering my life to receive the fullness of His!!!

Letting Go & Letting God

2 Corinthians 5:17 
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

When we become saved, we know that everything in our past is wiped clean! This verse makes it very clear that our old sinful ways are forgotten and we are made a new creation. So my question is this. If God forgets our sinful past, then why can't we? Why do some of us choose to sit in pity, shame, remorse, and sorrow!? Praise God, we are a NEW creation! Completely brand new and spotless! This is the way our Father looks at us!

Romans 8:1 says this.. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

There is NO condemnation in Christ Jesus! So if you are feeling any negative thoughts about yourself, they are lies of the devil! 

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10 NIV)

Satan wants you to believe that you aren't a different person and you are still guilty of all past sins! He wants to steal your joy and happiness! Jesus came so that we could have LIFE! So if living in the past is something you are dealing with (I know I was!) then I urge you to LET GO and let God make a radical change in your life that he so desperately wants to! 

Philippians 3:13 
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead

Look ahead toward the future! God has an amazing plan for your life!

Why Worry??

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. I’ve done a lot of worrying in my life. I’ve worried about grades in school, problems with my car, rising costs of living and a shrinking bank account balance. I’ve worried about bills, jobs, relationships, sickness, and even something so small as to whether or not my hairstyle makes my face look fat- such a silly thing to worry about, right?!

Yet, even with all my worrying, I am here alive and well, my bills are paid, and my car is in working condition. How many hours have I spent worrying- hours that I will never get back? Matthew 6:25 asks, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” So if worrying does nothing to help the situation, what’s the point? It took some time (and some listening to the Lord) to finally realize that I don’t have to worry- in fact, it does much more harm than good.

We as Christians need to realize that God has got our back. Psalm 139:14 says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made- why wouldn’t God take care of something He put so much time and work into creating?

Worrying shows God that we don’t trust Him. By worrying, we are saying that we don’t have faith that God will take care of us; it is the opposite of faith. We need to learn that nothing is impossible with God leading the way; if He leads you to it, He will lead you through it!

The Lord knows what He is doing. If things don’t go the way you planned, clearly God has a better plan for you.‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”’- Jeremiah 29:11. Trust in the Lord and He will take care of you. He has already seen your life- He knows your past present and future and He has great plans for you.

So don’t worry about your financial situation, relationship status, or health- God takes care of his people. You are God’s wonderful creation and surely if you rely on the Lord, He will lead you in the right direction. Lean on Psalm 55:22- “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

The Unexpected Blessing!

1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG)
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.

Thirteen years ago my family and I moved to Walker County in a little community called Curry. If someone would have told me that someday I would have no chaos in my life then I would have thought they were crazy. After all, chaos was my middle name. Clutter, company and teenage chatter boxes was a common thing in my home. Every room was filled with laughter and my life was complete.

However, God created the seasons to come and go, and in 2006 my season of life began to change. My two oldest daughters married and my baby started college to follow her dream. As darkness falls in the evening time, silence began to enter my empty home and I found myself lonely. How could this be I thought? I am not a selfish person. I was truly excited for all of my children. I had gained two sons and I love all my children very much. I started in for the long haul of what I called life. My two best friends were my T.V. and my sofa! I still adore those, but at that time I was beginning to struggle and I did not understand why.

I love the part of 1 Corinthians 10:13 that states God will never let you down. This is my story. It happened to me, out of the blue, without asking, an unexpected blessing rode right into my families heart. Yes, she rode into the center of my life.

She was spotted riding an old worn out bicycle by my oldest daughter. The newlyweds rented a house on that very street. Every evening the little girl would ride her bicycle up and down, back and forth. My children took the leading of the Lord and bought her a brand new girlie bike. That is where our love story began. That is the day my loneliness started to fade.

My adopted daughter lives in a group home and is small in size. She has dark brown hair, hazel eyes and wears pink butterfly glasses. She is the ripe old age of anywhere between 7 and 97 depending on the mood of the day! She is a bright light in a dark world and loves Jesus with her entire soul, and no one can amen the pastor like this precious child. The only thing that fires this little one up is missing church, and let me just share…when it happens…look out…it’s "on like a chicken bone"!!!

A few months ago one of her roommates was not feeling well, and that meant she was not getting dropped off at church. I was already at church scurrying around, doing my duties when I stopped by the church office and found I had missed twenty calls! Yes, twenty missed calls on my cell phone. I returned her call telling her that I was very sorry but I was walking into the classroom to help teach Sunday SchoolAmazingly, nothing was said except “I sorry!” WOW, I thought, she took that well! A few minutes passed and my phone rang again. This time it was my father. “Sister,” he said, “Yes sir,” I replied. “Our baby has called Gran and told her ‘YOU KIDS’ would not come get her! Please get in my car and go!!!! AND I DID!!!

This was not my first clue that my adopted child is smarter than your average bear! She does not miss a thing; she so is smart and sneaky! Who else would call the head of the family to get me in trouble? LOL! Miss Priss is a mess but she is our mess and words can’t explain the joy she has brought to our lives.

You know, Jesus sees our hurts and loneliness even if we are not aware that they are forming. 

Sometimeunexpected blessings are huge, and sometimes they are tiny; the key is to look for them. A longtime ago my Mother taught me that praise changes things, and complaining establishes it! Look for the hidden treasures in your life, God will always be there to help you. Praise it through! HE will never let you down!

To fear or not to fear? There is NO question!

Fear: to be afraid of: expect with alarm (fear the worst). A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined.

Reverence – honor or respect shown or felt.

Over the week I have felt The Lord leading me to write on fear. I must say this was strange. I have never thought that fear was a struggle for me. So, I went to the internet. When I began to look, I noticed that there is several post debating just how many times we are told in The Word “fear not”. As I looked over many of them I thought how silly!! If His Word only told us once “fear not” that should be all we need.

 A few days went by and I started to wonder if I was even going to be able to write a post at all this week. The devil was really working overtime on me!! And sadly I was letting him!!

 Then one day an ambulance went past and my friend immediately picked up the phone and started calling her family members to see if they were ok. I looked at her and said “that is ridiculous”. I asked her why she did that. She said “do you not do that?” I said “no”. To her the fact that I didn’t was strange. To me the fact that she did was strange. This brought me back to the subject of fear and why so many of us struggle with it. Also, it made me wonder, do I after all struggle with fear? Is the fact that I struggle so much with my desire for a Godly mate rooted in a fear of being alone???

 One of the most well known scripture on fear is Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. This scripture really does say it all. Yet many Christians live a life in fear. They fear the unknown. They live with the constant question of “what if?” What if I get sick? What if my family member gets sick? What if I lose my job? What if my marriage ends? What if …………??  The “what if’s” can wear us out!!!

 In the book of Romans chapter 8:14-15 we are told - For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him “Abba, Father.”
If we are living in fear it is NOT OF GOD!!!!!

 As I have been writing this, the Lord has sent me back to a binder full of Sunday School lessons from our sweet “Gran Gran” Mavalean Britt. In one lesson titled “The Danger of Fear & The Reward of Faith” she writes, “Fear’s job is to hinder, harass, trouble and try to stop the anointing in any way that it can. The earth is filled with fear. We must change it and fill it with faith.”

 The Word is filled with scripture after scripture that we can use to do this. Here are just a few:

Psalms 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

Psalms 118:6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

Joshua 1:9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

 The only fear we as Christians should have is reverential fear of the Lord. In Paul’s letter to the Philippians’ he writes: Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. (Philippians 2:12)

Hello! I pray each one of you are having a blessed day! You should be, you are a believer of Jesus! Since the Pastor was preaching about Faith this week at AwakeningLife Church I wanted to put up a prayer for you to pray about faith! I also am going to put up some scriptures about faith! Read this prayer and scriptures aloud. Get them in your spirit! They are life changing!

Father, I come before You I the name of Jesus, and I choose life today! I will walk in faith and not in fear. Because The Lord is on my side I will not have fear. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to open my eyes to any area of fear in my life. Lord, Your Word says faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and I will build up my faith today by reading Your Word and acting upon it. Thank You, Father, for the hedge of protection that You bring in response to my faith. Thank You that through the righteousness of Jesus I can confidently trust in Your peace and safety for my life and home knowing that Your angels are always on guard. I believe today! In Jesus Name! Amen!

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses, therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith (we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk) not by sight or appearance

Psalm 118:6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. what can man do to me?

Romans 10: 17 So faith comes by hearing (what is told) and what is heard comes by the preaching ( of the message that came from the lips) of Christ ( the Messiah Himself)

Hope this encouraged someone today! Start building your faith! Don't just read this devotion get in the Word of God! Search for Him!! Build that faith up!

I once heard Gloria Copeland reference faith to a check book and checking account. We need to make regular deposits into our faith checking account. We do this by hearing the Word of God on regular daily basis. When the times comes that we need to put our faith into action our account is nice and full. All we have to do is write the check!

Freedom of Forgiveness

Matthew 6:14-15 NLT version

14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Wow! The bible is really clear on unforgiveness! It says very clearly: if we do not forgive others then God is not going to forgive us! I don't know about you but I fail daily as a Christian and I need forgiveness!!!

My Gran Gran says it the best to me. She said The Lord taught her many years ago this demonstration and it really burned into her spirit. She says to stretch out your arms and open your hands with your palms facing up. She says that is what our lives are life when we walk in forgiveness! We are open to receive blessings from God! The next demonstration is to stretch out your arms and open your hands with your palms facing up also. Then clench your hands into fist as tight as you can! Wow! She says God told her that is how we live if we choose to not forgive. We are spiritually closed and cannot revive God's blessings! That is definitely not a place that I would ever want to be!!!

I know a lot people have a hard time with forgiveness but remember we can do nothing without God! Ask God to help you with the forgiveness process! What seems impossible to man is possible with  God. 

Choose to forgive those who have wronged you. Even if you think they don't deserve to be forgiven. Do it because God has commanded us to. Choose to live in freedom today!!!
